So yesterday I went to change the spark plugs on my 03 Sport. My father never has and the vehicle has went 45,000 miles since he bought it. After removing the first coils though unnoticed they had oil on them. :wow2: And so did the plugs. They were quite drenched in oil actually. Well the threads were at least. This truck has always had an apparently valve cover leak but never has it lost oil. So I went ahead and guessed that was the culprit. Ordered myself a Beck and Arnley head gasket from amazon since it has good reviews. And yes my spark plugs are OEM Denso. My question is does anyone have experience in replacing the valve cover gaskets on the 4.0 V6 and can help me out with this? The gasket I ordered comes with tube seals also. Any tips? Do I need gasket sealer? Or should I install the new gaskets on dry?

If you are referring to the valve cover gaskets I just did them as well from oil on the spark-plugs. From what I understood no rtv was needed as when I took the originals off there wasn't any. The gasket itself will seat in the valve cover as it has little ribs that latch on. Also be careful with the original gasket as mine shattered after I removed it. The kit will have its 6 mini gaskets for the 3 bolts that go on either side in the middle of the valve cover.
