Well, if it needs 1 valve, then chances are you will need to redo all the valves. In order to do that, you will need to pull the head off the motor and take the head to a machine shop so they can clean, put new valves if needed, and seat the valves.
Pulling the head off is going to be a lot of work. Basically, you have to take the eintire engine apart besides the block.
So for a shop to do it, it would cost around $7-800 in labor plus parts. Then the head needs to get worked on by a machine shop. This will run about $3-400 plus valves and seals.

If the engine has that many miles and you need valve work you will need ring work also. Once you tighten up the top end 9 out of 10 times you will start to get blow by the rings and a loss of compression. Unfortunately its a domino effect but if the vehicle is in great shape its worth the money I'd bet.
I have to agree, If the Runner is in great shape, in and out, no rust. It would be money well spent. But I do want to say, if it is a 3.0, I would gat a rebuilt 3.2 and drop it in. It would be your best bet in the long run.
valve job worth it
I had the head gasket recall done on my 1994 SR5 3VZE motor in 2004 at ~150,000. Since they had the heads off anyway, an' taking it apart was free, I had a machine shop I trusted completely overhaul the heads.
The difference was amazing, before it was OK but...after the valve job it pulled like a mule going up a ladder. Ran great for 7 years and another 100,000 before the replacement head gasket blowed up real good.
I credit the rings being in good shape to frequent oil changes by the US Air Force mechanics who maintained it for the pilot I bought it from. My tax dollars at work.
