I'm rolling a stock Trail as well. I haven't had too many issues but will eventually add some lift for piece of mind.
I noticed on a trail with a few guys, they rolled over rocks I had to put my tires on, because I didn't think I could clear it. And I've got the scrapes and dents on the skids for the bad calls. But better the plates then something more vital.
Anyone interested in meeting up this Sunday (10/26) at around 9am?
I was thinking we could meet up in the Northern section of Lake Mead NRA, there are several trails that run off of Northshore Rd. (Nevada 167).
If we got enough interest we could even try and reserve a group picnic area, the Redstone Dune (or Callville Bay) have group picnic sites are near several trails. We could use either spot just have as a meet up place before or afterwards or we could grill up some burgers when we are done running a trail or two (as suggested by [MENTION=69312]808g19[/MENTION]).
Here is a brief summary of the trails running from there-
1. Anniversary Mine Trail (NPS 94A); 5.8 miles, 1 hour, difficulty rating 4. I have tried this one before and ended up not finding my way through, either the road dead ends now or I made a wrong turn somewhere, but its mainly a gravelly wash... definitely can be run stock 4wd.
2. Callville Wash Trail (NPS 94); 5.8 miles (each way), 45 min (each way) difficulty rating 3. I have ran this one also, it is similar to Anniversary Mile just not as much deep gravel, could probably even run this one in 2wd. Might get some pinstripes though.
3. Boathouse Cove Road (NPS 97); 9.2 miles (each way), 1 hour (each way), difficulty 4. Have not run this trail. Book says mostly graded gravel road with two sections of rocky eroded washes that make high-clearance and 4wd a necessity. Runs out to the shoreline of Lake Mead.
4. Bitter Springs Backcountry Byway; 26.6 miles plus 3.4 mile spur, 4 hours, difficulty 4. This is the trail [MENTION=106215]chiz45[/MENTION] previously suggested. Its a long scenic trail that we could run in reverse (from Lake Mead area) and end off at the I-15 north of Las Vegas.
5. Rainbow Gardens and Lava Butte Loop; 16.7 miles, 45 minutes, difficulty 3. I have ran this trail, it can definitely be run stock. Starts just before the North entrance to Lake Mead NRA. I heard this got washed out a month or two ago so we would have to check to see if it has been repaired first.
[MENTION=115253]Mr Banks[/MENTION] I am sure you can run any of these trails stock. AT tires would definitely help but these trucks are pretty capable stock. I would suggest you see how well it does stock and how difficult of trails you really want to do before advising you on a suspension/lift.
