Getting her first service tomorrow. I fully expect the service department to blast me for the pinstripes and skid plates!

Hey guys I went on Rock Gap Road yesterday, man was that one tough. First time doing a trail that hard on my 3rd gen. Almost made it out with out any damage but ended up putting two small dents on my front and rear bumpers, was planning on replacing them anyways, and my friends Dodge 2500 Ram got a dent on his door cuz I messed up in spotting him once, and then another friend in his 1500 Ram crushed his exhaust a bit. Then there was a Jeep Wrangler which had a 3 inch lift and 33" that made it through with no damage but was having way more trouble making it through than I was, I think that was more driver skill than vehicle. We also had to continuously rescue a Jeep Grand Cherokee that decided to try to do it as well. Let's just say the guy was lucky to have sliders cuz his jeep could have ended up with some serious damage.

We went east to west, we are going to do west to east on the second sunday of the new year. If your interested on joining up message me on the facebook page.

I was thinking we could meet up in the Northern section of Lake Mead NRA, there are several trails that run off of Northshore Rd. (Nevada 167).

If we got enough interest we could even try and reserve a group picnic area, the Redstone Dune (or Callville Bay) have group picnic sites are near several trails. We could use either spot just have as a meet up place before or afterwards or we could grill up some burgers when we are done running a trail or two (as suggested by [MENTION=69312]808g19[/MENTION]).

Here is a brief summary of the trails running from there-

1. Anniversary Mine Trail (NPS 94A); 5.8 miles, 1 hour, difficulty rating 4. I have tried this one before and ended up not finding my way through, either the road dead ends now or I made a wrong turn somewhere, but its mainly a gravelly wash... definitely can be run stock 4wd.

2. Callville Wash Trail (NPS 94); 5.8 miles (each way), 45 min (each way) difficulty rating 3. I have ran this one also, it is similar to Anniversary Mile just not as much deep gravel, could probably even run this one in 2wd. Might get some pinstripes though.

3. Boathouse Cove Road (NPS 97); 9.2 miles (each way), 1 hour (each way), difficulty 4. Have not run this trail. Book says mostly graded gravel road with two sections of rocky eroded washes that make high-clearance and 4wd a necessity. Runs out to the shoreline of Lake Mead.

4. Bitter Springs Backcountry Byway; 26.6 miles plus 3.4 mile spur, 4 hours, difficulty 4. This is the trail [MENTION=106215]chiz45[/MENTION] previously suggested. Its a long scenic trail that we could run in reverse (from Lake Mead area) and end off at the I-15 north of Las Vegas.

5. Rainbow Gardens and Lava Butte Loop; 16.7 miles, 45 minutes, difficulty 3. I have ran this trail, it can definitely be run stock. Starts just before the North entrance to Lake Mead NRA. I heard this got washed out a month or two ago so we would have to check to see if it has been repaired first.

Thanks for thinking of me . unfortunately wifey already has plans for me on the 3rd . hopefully I can make the next run.i did however get to hit the trails twice last week. I hit up cottonwood Rd trail off of Blue Daimand and took that all the way to pioneer saloon in goodsprings. Then headed towards jean and ran some dirt trails to primm.after that we headed to the dry lake bed .my truck did well but I am definitely looking for more clearance soon. I got myself stuck in some deep mud trying to pull someone else out off the mud .I'm sure I could have gotten myself out but we had tow straps ready to go so I just got pulled out and then proceeded to pull out someone else. I got to try 4 low for the first time. I locked my rear diff, turned of my traction control and did some donuts too.my truck only has 1600 miles on it so I'm still learning how it works . hopefully I can get together with a few of you guys soon. Can anyone here accept my request for the t4r Facebook page?

Right now not sure as I am pushing to get my house sold and working as much on the side as well to have some extra cash after the purchase of the new house. I'm definitely stock so could only do a stock run, or if a harder run was decided, I could join and ride with someone at a minimum assuming I am free (not sure yet on being free).

Everyone ok with meeting up at Redstone picnic area in Lake Mead NRA?

I listed 5 trails that all run in the vicinity of the picnic area... Ive only ran trails #2 & #5. Both I would say are definitely stock friendly and can probably be ran in 2wd weather permitting. Not sure about the others; #3 boathouse cove sounds the most difficult and book states high clearance and 4wd necessary...

Where is the Redstone picnic area located inside of the park? Am I better to enter the park off of Lake Mead near Sunrise Mountain or entering through Boulder City?
