Vent Visors yeh or nay ???

I was thinking of possibly getting a set of weathertech in channel type.

Had them on other trucks before , but not sure if they would look cool on a 4R.

Thoughts.....????

The dark rear and regular tint front ones are exact match to the OEM window tinting. My RNR is black so in summer I like to leave windows cracked when parked and it enables you to do that without water getting inside. I think they look great.

weathertech's are of excellent quality, i have them on my black 4runner and is the in-channel, ill post pictures next time.

I put the Weathertech in-channel's on my 06 Sport a few months ago and love them. I got the lighter tint and they look great. Also, they have a lower profile than the stick-on types, giving it a sleeker look, IMO. And of course they allow you to leave the windows cracked when it's raining, or when it's parked outside in hot weather. One of the best investments I've made for my truck.

I have a couple of questions about the "in-channel" design.
First, has anyone had them long enough to see if they scratch up the top of your window glass? I keep the truck as clean as I can but they salt the heck out of the roads here in the winter and if that stuff gets between the glass & the plastic it might scuff the heck out of the top 1/2" of glass.
And second; do they permanently deform your weather stripping? If for some reason one has to be removed are you left with a ton of wind noise because of the resulting gap?

i have mine since April 2006 and to answer your first question, no, it wont scratch the top of the window glass , the glass windows is harder than the weathertech vent visor.

to 2nd, no gaps, as long as the winodw rolls all the way up.

the only thing is, when drying my winodws after cleaning i have to roll it down enough to clean the upper portion of the window.

I've had my weathertech in-channel for about 2 years now. Love them, they really well made and worth the money.

The only thing I've ever noticed with them, is every once in awhile they sometimes trick the pinch sensor on the drivers window. So it rolls the window back down, if you use the auto up.

It hasn't happened in a long time, so I think it fixes itself once they get seated.

I have them and love them but I've never figured out what the odd bend is for down near the side view mirrors. When installing them I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tuck the window flashing in at the bend or what. I found the directions a little vague on this. I opted to keep the flashing all to one side.

I have the stick-on visor. Many here do not like these and opt to go with the in-channel visors.

One pro to having the stick-ons is that you get one seemingly continuous visor vent from your front side mirror all the way over your rear door's half window. There is no break in continuity as in the picture between the front and rear doors. I would upload a pic but I do not know how. Just picture the stick on front and rear window visors as almost a continuous vent with a small crack between the front and rear doors to allow for them to open/close.

I've had mine for acouple of years now and they look great. One thing I noticed after installing, the wind noise increased.
