Ya I bought the 8202 also and it had gaps still on the sides. Ended up cutting the bottom lip off the 8210 and got it to fit much better.

I have same dash kit, but top of the line JVC head unit. When HU not powered lower lip looks just like on your picture. But my deck has option of tilt. In settings I select 2nd option for angle and once deck gets some power it tilts up and lower lip dissappears. Have you powered your HU? You may have same option of tilting.
PS. After looking closer on your deck I see that it has slot for CDs where mine is hidden behind motorized face plate. This makes me think that your faceplate is not motorized and doesnt have tilt option

Here's the thread for anyone else wondering. I've been looking for this trim piece as I am about to replace my headunit. The Metra & Scosche kits just look terrible compared to this one.

I used a Metra 95-8202, and it turned out well -- no lip, and no gaps. As you can see, I went with a DD JVC unit trying to go for stealth as to not attract attention -- but one that put out great (non-amplified, for the time being) sound. It does just what I wanted it to do and color matches nicely.

^Yours looks nice and looks stock esp with how the buttons stick out along with the matching orange buttons.
I am looking at more of a full 7 inch touch screen (JVC KW-V51BT). From the pictures I've seen, I can't come to a liking with another kit beside the Toyota trim kit. It sucks that it's so expensive.

I have exactly same 7" HU installed and fit and finish with Metra bracket is superb! The difference is in HU not the bracket itself. Certain, more expensive HU have a tilt option to tilt the screen to match angle of your dash. KW-V50BT is equipped with that option and it looks and fits perfect. Not sure which pictures you are referring to.

Yeah, the JVC KW-HDR81BT is a good blend of features, and stealth for the application. I had one in my old 07, and it performed well with other equipment too. It steams music with great sound, gives enough RMS without an amp, and has multiple USB inputs.
The only thing it really lacks is the GPS, which I prefer not having. It's flashy for my taste, and I use my phone anyway -- and that streams directions over the music when I input a destination. In my opinion, there really isn't a need for GPS unless you are really off the beaten path. In that case, I bring my Delorme GPS with SPOT for emergencies. That way I can call for help -- something my in-dash wouldn't be able to do anyway.
Back to the fitment though...As @paraordinance said, it's the HU that meshes well with the kits. You get too fancy and you run into industrial design issues where form and function rub.

I guess I personally just wouldn't go the touchscreen route for a couple reasons. 1) It feels mismatched to the interior design of the truck. 2) MN winter isn't that nice to electronics like that. 3) They date themselves pretty quickly when nicer looking LEDs come out by the time you finish the install. At least that's my rationale. IMO old nav units look shitty, and they don't even have to be that old...

Make that a focus group of 2 ... I would love to have a touchscreen, but they just don't seem to flow with the 4th Gen interior.

It just looks way cleaner of an install IMO.
Top picture is mine. As I said here several times already, it much more depends what HU you will be using versus what bracket. You just simply ignoring this fact. Certain HU have different face plates, designs, shapes, protrusions, textures an colors. No bracket in the world will change how HU looks. In fact I can hardly see any difference between actual brackets. The Metro one is nearly identical to one you showing and more than half the price.
After closer look I'm actually noticing much bigger gaps between HU and Toyota bracket due to rounded corners (most HU dont have rounded corners). So "much cleaner install" may be very subjective

I do agree with everyone. A touch screen in the 4runner is hard to pull off. Wish there was a better flow with the interior.

I like how you wrapped your interior pieces in CF. I was thinking if the trim didnt flow well, i would wrap some of those dash pieces along with the trim kit to match and look the same.
The reason I want to choose this touch screen is because i want a backup camera and i want to be able to mirror googlemaps from my phone to the screen along with having bluetooth and most other modern features like being able to tilt the screen to sit flush with the dash. I have a hookup and can the JVC KW-v51bt for 295$ shipped, which i feel like is a good deal.

An alternative idea...in the event mirroring is not as important to you as the back up camera… Buy a rearview mirror that has an LED built into it, and wire a camera to the rear. I saw a thread here a while back that outlines the parts, and they weren't much more then $100-$150. That'll give you an auto-dimming mirror, a backup camera, and free you of the need to go with a touchscreen.
This idea sounds like it would be about cost neutral though at $250-$300, so I understand heading in the direction you're going. Good luck!

Yeah, thats a very good deal. I can take some new pictures today and post them here, that top picture of mine probably not the best (overexposed) and I can try and take it from different angles with my phone camera. In short this JVC HU is fairly good for the price. I tried all features including mirroring screen. I still prefer using phone for navigation instead of mirroring screen due to the fact that you must keep your cell phone in landscape orientation for the picture to fill in whole HU screen. Also phone screen resolution is much higher in comparison.

The problem is with angle of the dash. But the bracket itself is nicely made, very secure and looks fine within interior. May be I should wrap it in carbon fiber vinyl too.
