I had them balanced at a mom and pop shop. My dad and I get all of our tires mounted and balanced there and we've never had a problem, so I don't THINK that is the problem.

you could, very well be correct. Just sharing my experience for a possible cause. My ordeal consumed entirely too much of my patience over the past few months

Definitely check the rear u-joint for play and get those rack bushings swapped. When doing the rack bushings, it helps if you peel back the old rubber ones a little bit and spray some PB in there. Should make them come out a little easier. Mine were kinda stuck in there.

I don't think the front u-joints are replaceable, you just replace the whole front driveshaft AFAIK. I haven't dealt with the front driveshaft myself though so I could be wrong, but I believe the only u-joint that you can replace is the rear one on the rear driveshaft.

I only replaced the rear on the rear drive shaft myself but the rear double cardan should be repairable. I've read that stealerships just want to swap the parts instead of only repairing what is worn out. Par for the course . . .

Who balanced your tires???

Yeah apparently our wheels are a b!tch to balance (lots of posts on it). I finally found a shop that could do it and the infamous 65-70 mph vibration disappeared.

So this could be a wheel problem, too.

I can see now why this vibration problem is a bit of a "ghost in the machine" kind of thing.
