hello , I was under my 85 4runner and noticed the frame vin has RN60 and on the vin tag in the truck on drivers side corner of windshield it has RN65 . does anyone know why that would be . is your 85 like that to ? thanks

AFAIK RN60 is a short wheel base, RN65 is long wheel base.
1st gen 4runners are built on the swb p/u frame.
I'll have to look at mine and see which they are.

oh ok , thanks, I asked this same question on another forum yesterday got a lot of views but no answer , so they were just as confused with that as I was

I looked at mine, the 84 is an RN60L model and the 89 is an RN61L.
Both translate to 4 cyl, truck, 4WD, left hand steering.

The 84 VIN is RN65 while the 89 is RN64.
That translates to 4 cyl, truck/4Runner, model # (RN, etc), model unique info

The VIN and the model/frame decode differently but similarly.
