VIP Alarm bypass for aftermarket alarm?

Still working at getting my new alarm/remote starter fixed.

This is a different request and didn't want to bury it in my other post that requests opinions, and I could really use an answer quickly.

My installer said he probably has to find a different wire to bypass the factory alarm ("upgraded alarm that comes with the 04 limited V8")

This is for an AstroFlex alarm over the factory alarm.

My factory alarm went off when I disabled the aftermarket alarm a couple of times...

Help?

I don't know if this will help but you can tell your installer that when I bought the RS3200+ alarm for my 2004 Runner the alarm brain is installed in the passenger side outer footwell panel. You have to remove the glove box, passenger door floor sill and then it is mount up against the side panel wall. I had to plug in an connection and splice into a wire there. I am sure he/she can disable it here if they find this brain.

Success! Here's an update.

My installer had to do a couple of things to get the factory '04 LTD alarm and the new AstroStart alarm/remote starter to work right.

The features I have now.

1. Two way remote
2. Remote start & auto shut off after 15 (18?) mins. Also can shut off from remote.
3. Auto start every xx mins if < temp (I don't use this)
4. Valet override hidden switch
5. Two stage shock sensor
6. Delayed arm on exit (Doesn't arm until driver's door closed)
7. Rear window UP AND DOWN with remote. Had to use two relays to allow factory module to be used when not activating by remote. The remote also indicates status of window, using trunk icon. This was a tricky fellow...
8. Doors unlock/lock quickly when preparing to remote start. Had to do this to get the factory alarm to play nice. I have the bypass module, no problem, but the factory alarm kept getting out of synch with new alarm. Sometimes the factory alarm would go off, or not arm, etc. This pulsing of the locks fixed the problem.

10. Car finder from remote. "A Shave and a Haircut..two bits"


And everything in the vehicle works exactly as it did before the installation!

I am proficient with electronics and computers. Okay with vehicles, but never messed with the vehicle computers. I am very glad I left this install to the experts.

I could have installed it, for sure, but then who would help with the problems? And they were specific, show me, type items.

It would have been very difficult to properly convey via typing, so no disrepect to the smart guys on here.

If anyone is interested in the alarm installer, they are Audio Phonics in Indiana, PA. Ask for Bob. Other good people there, but Bob is the alarm smart guy.
