Viper 5906v and Push Button Start Installed in my 2002

Hey guys, been lurking for a good amount of time picking up some good info from this site and this is my first real post. I just picked up a 2002 T4R SR5 in great shape not too long ago! My favorite gen for sure. It's black with a tan interior and only had 83k on the clock! Money is a bit tight after the purchase but my first mod was an alarm and a little bit of convenience via a push button start system (I hate keys lol).

I had a great shop in Houston install it for me - which included taking out the previous factory keyless entry system. They had to grind the ignition assembly out to install this button but I think the system looks awesome and so far, it works flawlessly.

Looks good. I would be a little worried about completely taking the whole ignition out though. I would have left it in and just removed the key cylinder. Just in case there was an issue with the button later on you would still be able to put it back to stock real easily.

I originally purchased the Digital Guard Dawg system which has a Lexus style button as an overlay to the original ignition (for sale btw if anyone is interested) but decided to take the ignition out completely instead - it was a bit scary to do that and I definitely had to sleep on that decision many times but I have no regrets Also the DGG system has a built in security system and RFID fob that automatically unlocks the doors and activates the system but I wanted to go with my Viper alarm because I'm so used to the features of that system.

Which brand system did you end up using? I was worried about the ignition thing and only removed the key cylinder. I purchased a cheap Chinese one from eBay for like $80. I have had mine for almost 2 years and haven't had any issues. I also use mine along with a viper alarm and remote start. Your push button use an rfid system with a key chain fob or what?

hey JeepKiller - well I bought the Viper 5906v for $290 and the Advanced Keys module for $189. The install was a bit pricey at $500 but it involved quite a bit of work.. so all in, it was $980! YMMV. It was definitely more than I planned to spend but there was some miscommunication on how much it would cost on the installation and I had to eat that bullet lol. I was pissed at first but its all good though - the system meets all my expectations and i'm happy with it.

zacattack20 - I ended up going with Advanced Keys - the product# is AK-PSB06. Great customer service and the unit is built very nicely.
