Volcom's 1984 4Runner

Finally got some major garage time this weekend and was busy mocking up the front axle housing, building a new hydro assist mount bracket, welding on shock mounts, steering stops, and installing the inspection port.

Welding in 98 degree heat

Everyone always knocks TG but this housing is pure beef and well fabricated.

Hydro assist ram bracket. Not my best welding but with the gusset, it isn't going anywhere

Kinda nerving to cut a 60mm (2 3/8") hole in a $770 housing. I didn't have TG install the inspection port because it would have interfered with where my hydro ram sits.

Hopefully I got it welded up good enough to not leak

Fully welded, ready for some paint

Couple coats of self etch primer before the hammered black

that thing is stout! are you doing anything else like 6 shooters or the FROR Taco disk conversion?

I'm running the old school Longfield 5th studs & ARP's and never have had issues. I'd like to run a trunnion bearing elimination kit one of these days. No FROR Taco disk conversion either. Just the standard IFS V6 calipers.

Forgot about the 5th stud option. I did the trunnion bearing eliminator, got lucky and scored it off some guy needing quick cash.

My issue is going to be my steering arms. I run the Marlin high steer arms. The kingpin hole is 1" vs the 3/4" on the TG's. So I'd need to make a 1" to 3/4" spacer that would press into my arms and have the TG kingpin press into that.

New TG housings are working pretty well!
