I saw this and typically I'm not a black helicopter kind of guy, but Amazon is embedded in so many areas of my life that I've started to unwind my relationship with them. No more Prime. More local library checkouts. Got rid of Alexa. Got their apps off my phone. They've come a long way from just selling me books at a discount.

Your phone and computer will "listen" more than you think.
My son was telling me about one of his friends that had drank too much and gotten sick in his GF's car on the way home.
Opened his phone to look at something a minute later and there was an ad for barf bags.
Funny, but it happened.
Daughter and I talking about camping equipment, same shit.
Had ads for tents and such for the next hour or so.

Wait. You're telling us that a smart phone can be in an "active" mode that tracks verbal conversations, reports the topic somewhere, and results in ads being sent to your phone?
I'm more inclined to suspect some Googling, FB'ing, or texting is involved --
but please tell me more.

Not saying it will never happen, but I am 100% confident that googling, etc, had to be involved (or it was simply coincidental).
