Today I had a 2.5" lift in front and 1.5" in rear. Put on 275/70r/18 Terra Grapplers on it with 18" Ultra wheels. I work at a dealer and had the mechanic out back do it. He's done a ton of them, but we're a Ford and Chrysler dealer. I picked it up and the VSC and ABS lights are on. Has this happened to anyone else??? I know the VSC runs on revolutions per the tires and a bigger tire can throw it off, but would it trip the ABS light to? And how do I fix it??? Thx

It's a very common issue when installing new suspension components. During the install, the ABS speed sensor wire was stressed. This causes it to break internally and throw the dash lights. You can try to find the bad section and splice in new wire, or you can buy replacements for under $50 per side.

You can use the method in one of those links to determine which side is causing the issues, its very likely only one needs to be replaced.

I have the exact same problem. I got a leveling kit and 265/75/16 toyo open country AT2's and all my lights are on...whats the danger of leaving it like this...being 17, i dont have the biggest budget for stuff like that if its not necessary...I can live with the lights on, but if it's unsafe or causes damage i'll repair it.

I have no clue haha.
I make sure to detach all wiring mounts on my front end before disassembling my suspension to avoid this issue :rockthrow:

VSC and ABS lights on after shocks and struts replaced
I had my shocks and struts replaced on a 2004 4 runner by a local mechanic. The VSC and ABS lights are now on and the mechanic seemed to be unsure of the cause. They have not yet run a scan on the vehicle. What could be the underlying cause?

I registered to this forum to reply to this thread. Your posts saved me. I have a 2005 4Runner limited with the infernal XREAS shocks. I have already replaced the factory XREAS shocks at year 7. The replacements failed within 2 years. I was done with that at 1400 in parts alone. I bought some bilstein's online and had a local tire shop install them. Ride was great after, but the ABS, and TRAC lights on the dash came on. I initially read where a "Zero Point Calibration" procedure was needed and downloaded the 2004 TSB regarding how to do that. Dealership wanted 120 bucks to hook the thing up and press 4 buttons. Nope. I did the jumper wire thing and the abs light would go out temporarily and come right back on....so further searches got me to this thread. I pulled the front 2 abs sensors and tested the continuity of the wires and sure enough the right front was bad. So....got online again and a new harness was 80 bucks. Nope. Took the harness to the workbench and cut the wires about 3 in from the connectors. Spliced new wires in place with and soddered them in. Used a plastic wire cover from the auto parts store. 4.99 for 10 feet. Spare wire = free. Used factory harness supports and put it back in. Redid the zero point calibration with the jumper wire "as described in the TSB" and all lights are out, and ride is great. Saved about 200 bucks just in parts and diagnostics fees thanks to you guys.
