VSC and TRAC lights always on P430 error Im cool with it

So I first had an o2 sensor error and replaced all the o2 sensors., then I started getting this p430 catalytic converter error. I had the cats checked out by a muffler shop and they said it was fine so the p430 error is cosmetic and probbaly need sensor replaced.

The side efffect is that the vsc and trac are always off. Im actually fine with it because I consider both to be nanny systems that I have always been annoyed with not being able to shut off.

Is there any reason that I cant just continue like this. Im ok with them being off. VSC and TRAC will always be off by atrac will still kick in for offroad. ( havent tested just assuming)

Are you me? My 04 v6 4wd has the same code. CEL, vsc, and trac always on. Replaced an o2 sensor and didnt fix it. Guy said i could drive it, its just below efficiency. My gas mileage is the same. But that CEL is annoying. I might replace the cat just to make it go way

Yeah it is annoying, I was just wondering if there was any other bad sideffects of leaving it. i HATE VSC and TRAC , they can go straight to hell. So not having them is really nice. I dont have a way to turn them off on this rig

There is a mod to add in a switch to disable them. I'm in the same boat but trac comes in handy off road every once in awhile. I always thought it wouldn't help till I gave it a try.

I had the additional side effect of slight loss of power. Somebody who never drove a V8 Runner might not have noticed, but it was slightly weaker.

For you, I would suggest looking at the simulator harness from URD. It tells the ECU the cats are working properly, which eliminates the codes. Again, the device is marketed off-road only, be aware.

I do have those codes. I was talking about a switch you can add to disable the traction etc. you still need the urd harness to clear the check engine codes.

All you need are those spark plug defoulers. two come in a package, drill one out with a 1/2" bit and put the o2 sensor into that one and take the undrilled defouler and screw that on top of the first one. The small hole prevents large amounts of exhaust gas from getting to the o2 sensor. This works even without a catalytic converter installed. I have them on my truck, no CEL of any type and everything works great.

Doesn’t always work. I have them on mine (installed by previous owner) and still have the P0420.

I verified with Techstream live data that you can literally have NO catalytic converter installed and the computer still accepts the data as valid.
