VSC, ATRAC, ABS quesion

Does anyone know if the VSC, TRAC, and ABS are standalone systems on a 2003 4runner 2wd 1GR? I am converting my 4runner to power steering assisted hydroboost and i have removed the brake assembly outside the firewall. I have removed all the covering on the wire looms and i am looking to remove the entire systems if the 1GR does not need them to start. I have a buddy with a titan motor swap and nissan requires the abs sensors for the titan motor to start. The wiring is all weaved together and i am intending to fish it all out to remove it but if the motor has to have it to start then i will tuck it away. I disconnected the plugs from my moms 2007 but she has a different system and does not have the module under the dash that i do

I am guessing you no longer want the master cylinder you said you wanted? A note to say so would have been nice. Good luck with your project.

Uhhhh......I was never looking for a master cylinder. I was looking to get rid of mine, whichi did on ebay. so you must have me confused with someone else

I got a factory manual from books4cars.com. They have the Electrical Wiring Diagram. # EWD514U for $99. That may have what you need if no one here can help.

I still don't understand how you're using the power steering to assist the brakes...?

Google hydroboost...i am using a hydro boost off of an astro van modified to bolt up to my firewall and pedal assemble from Custom Power Brakes. The power steering pressure creates the "boost" but it still uses brake fluid to actuate the caliper pistons. The factory master cylinder assembly was to big for what i am doing and had to be removed. A vacuum booster was not going to work either.

V8man-- No worries...you did contact me to see if i sold my master cylinder to the guy that was supposed to buy yours. As for the manuals i have the FSM wiring diagram but it is a little confusing. The schematic shows the Stop lights, Auto trans shifter solenoid, and the ECM all connected at some point to the VSC computer. I need someone with an 03 to unplug everything and see if it still starts and drives

Huh, weird... that's the first I ever heard of GM doing it that way. I'm used to GM's Hydroboost systems like the old Caddies and such with the large accumulator pump and tank similar to our vehicles.

Interesting idea, post pics when you have it set up!

Also you can start the truck with all the ABS/VSC connectors dissconnected from the Hydraboost unit. The '03~'05 is the same unit and wiring and just double checked on my '04 and starts-up fine. It just does a long beep of anger with the vehicle running and lights on.

so you unplugged the 4-5 connectors on the master cylinder and the 4 connectors on the VSC computer under the dash between the brake pedal and the dash fuse panel?

Not the module under the dash, I'll go check that now, just the ones on the master cylinder.

Yeah, it still starts with all the plugs on the Hydraboost unit and VSC computer uplugged, the annoying beep even goes away and only the ABS light is on.

you are the man...i wish i would have done it before i ripped the motor out. I think i am just going to unplug it all and leave the connectors there instead of actually unweaving everything and disconnecting it from the fuse box. The lights are no biggie since i had the lights removed when i had the gauge cluster LEDs done...Thanks again
