VSC lights lit on after I've used scan tool. how to reset these ?

Hi i bought the scan tool today cause was on sale for a 30$ . Anyway I just plugged it to make sure if works than after I read the codes (no codes and no pending codes as well) i put scan tool back to the box .
Than I start the engine and starts driving got vsc and vsc off lights on wtf!?
When I stop there is a only vsc lit on and abs flashing .
I'm so mad . Tried to reset battery but no luck .
How I could get rid off these lights now

this happened to me, i have a can obdII reader and it trips the codes. i can't remember if i needed to do a zero point calibration or i took it to a mechanic and had him reset it with the proper reader

Yep, ZPC is what you have to perform in order to clear the fault code.

There are a few threads on how to do it with a paper clip, as well as a few youtube videos.. I myself just purchased a mini vci from over seas/eBay and it works perfectly.. Mini VCI Tis Techstream OBD2 OBDII for Toyota Diagnostic Scanner Tool Cable CD | eBay

As you can see they are fairly inexpensive and even if you check it once a month to see how your Toyota is running it will basically pay for itself the very first time you use it..

PS: You don't necessarily have to buy it from this person but search and it will pretty much be about the same price..

A couple of years ago I bought a cheapo 25 dollar code reader from AutoZone. It tripped the VSC light also. I took it back to Autozone for a refund. I had to get a local mechanic with a 5K reader to reset the light. Then I bought a $99 reader from WalMart and it works just fine, including ABS codes. Moral of the story is you get what you pay for. The $99 was still pretty cheap, but good enough not to set any codes.

Thank you guys for a help ! I just did 0 point calibration using paper clip on my driveway . No more lights and traction works good !

My steering wheel was straight when I was doing calibration but the driveway isn't level so front of the car was higher than back . Idk is this will causing any bad seating for traction control module ?

You need to do the ZPC on level ground otherwise the vehicle learns "Level" or "Zero" at an angle and it could cause issues with how it interprets data on flat ground.

I'm guessing you have an '03 or an '04?

Ok alert!!

With my amazing mind I figured out how to clear Vsc lights with scanner

Ok so this is it instead of awaiting scan to be done..... once you notice the Vsc and abs lights start to blink a series of times turn engine off instead of allowing scan to complete test.

Trying to wait when it’s done and erasing codes won’t work you have to unplug and turn ignition off when Vsc and abs lights start blinking a series of blinks it doesn’t matter how many just as soon as you see them start blinking

Be sure to unplug the scanner from computer when you see Vsc and abs lights start blinking.... turn off ignition then with everything disconnected start up engine and test run your vehicle you shouldn’t have lights turn back on.

It’s so hard doing what some of those YouTube videos advise of and so I eventually did and noticed with my mechanical and technical mind of when it happens with computer and without computer this is the easiest and less complicated way to get it to work.

When you drive it to test it you’ll feel the difference in the drive that it’s fixed right away.

Look up "zero point calibration" on here, I had that issue after I mounted my scan gauge in my '03. Fixing it took five minutes to splice some wires together to do the zero point with, and like two minutes to actually do the calibration. If I remember correctly I just looked it up on youtube, super easy.

I actually ended up hooking it up to Techstream with an adapter and even that tripped the VSC light! Seems like it just might be a part of the deal with our early year 4th gens. I ended up making a switch with two wires to plug into the OBD port be able to do the reset a little easier.

I have also done that with a small toggle switch, it would be nice to monitor using the Scangauge II, oh well.

03-04 run the ISO protocol.

You can use the SG2 on 03-04 no problem.

You have to turn off the car before disconnecting sg2.
You have to plug sg2 in while car is running.
If you disconect the battery, you have to disconect the sg2 before you reconect the battery.

If you dont do these things it will need to have a ZPC done because your dash will light up like a xmas tree.

And btw... Trans temp uses the earlier ISO protocol not the later CAN or CANSF.

I'm having the exact same problem.
2010 4runner.recently put a three inch lift.week later she went crazy on a tight curve engaging the abs systems.vsc indicator light came on.no other lights.I should have calibrated her immediately after the lift.Now I can't even do that due to vsc codes.DAC and A Trac are disabled.i can't complete the calibration procedure because during the step when you wait for the abs and vsc indicator lights to flash at a steady pace the vsc light flashes codes.
I heard about the trick to turn the ignition off as soon as both abs and Vsc start blinking to interrupt the vsc code output. I tried this also and still didn't work. Do you also pull the key out or just turn to off position?? This is driving me nuts. Thanks
