both my VSC off light and traction control lights are both on and i cant get them to cut off. i need traction control. if anyone knows how to fix this i would really appreciate it. comment or send me a pm. thanks!

yes my check engine light is on too. i dont want to just get the lights turned off. i need it fixed. because my traction is diabled and im all over the place.

Well on the 3rd gens, when the check engine light comes on, so do the vsc and trac lights. Its so you take it in and get it checked, really stupid concept.
Get that code cleared and the lights will turn off if its like the 3rd Gen.

I had the same thing happen to me. Oddly enough, the morning after a deer plowed into the side of my truck and got sucked into the wheel well and I ran her over. I thought well that happened because of the deer. Maybe the yall sensor or the speed sensor at the wheel is what I was thinking the problem was.
At the time I worked at Toyota so we hooked it up to the scanner and the instructions for the code I had said to 1st, check the brake lights to make sure they turn on, Yup they worked. Then the 2nd instruction was to replace the brake master cyclinder.
Even my tech over at toyota told me the odds of that brake master cylinder going bad because of a deer strike was slim to NONE. Reguardless, I certainly didn't wana spend 1800.00 on a new brake master cyclinder. There very expensive on the 4th gens because of the computers on them. So I ended up fighting with the insurance company untill they covered it. They were not happy with me AT ALL! but whatever I got a new one so I didn't care. Once the tech installed the new part they reset all my codes and within a couple days the same lights were back on the dash agian. I was freaking out because I knew damn right I wasn't getting anymore help from the insurance co and I didn't wana tell them they wasted all that money on the brake master cyclinder for no reason.
This is the kicker. My shop foreman got involved and had me pump my brakes while he looked at the back of my runner. Every 30th time I hit the brakes the driver side brake light would come on but was not as bright as the passenger side. So AAAALLLLLL along these lights were coming on because of a $30 brake stop switch at the brake pedal. I didn't mind footing that bill myself! lol
So keep that in mind.... sorry for rambling but its kinda a funny story

Like others have said, check the OBDII and get the code then you can find out what's causing the lights to come on.
It could be as simple as you not tightening down your gas cap.

We need codes to even begin guessing at what could be wrong with the vehicle, a MIL is akin to seeing a Grocery Store with a lit "Open" sign. You know the store is actually open, but you have no idea if what you need is inside until you check it out.
[MENTION=86849]Benjamn88[/MENTION] the newer Toyotas have a lot of ABS/VSC/Trac codes in their modules now, but many of the integrated systems like the 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, LandCruiser, and such have no diagnostic methodology to them besides "process of elimination" if you look at a couple of my threads with the keyword "Hydraboost" you'll see what I went through diagnosing my own brake master cylinder unit. The system is an "all-in-one" with a master cylinder, ABS solenoid pack, and accumulator pump & tank integrated into one unit. What's weird is there's 11pages in the FSM to tear the unit down and put it back together again, but Toyota has no diagnostics to test it and they just want to replace the entire unit itself. YET, on the 3rd Gen Prius there's a recall due to a bad accumulator tank from a supplier and we only replace the accumulator tank on those unless a certain code is set, then the entire unit has to be replaced... annoyingly hypocritical of Toyota and on par with their current trend of Warranty.

Good ole Yota! no what you mean man. I really enjoyed working with toyota but unfortunitly the dealer I was working at wouldn't exactly give me a pay plan I could make work so on to the RV industry I went. i'll have to check your thread out later.
