Vsc off and vsc trac lights on

I have a 03 SR5 V6 and just got the VCS OFF / VCS TRAC and CEL on I have been doing some reading and I have found all kinds of answers.
The one thing I did find was th link and Brad in NC said unlees you were driving in the rain, but gives no answer to if you were driving in the rain which I was.

find out what the CEL light code is throwing it will tell you the problem to address it can be several things that cause the lights to come on. even a loose gas cap with throw those lights on

I geuss I will have to get a OBD II scanner and find out.

ask around if anyone locally has one you can borrow, or most autoparts stores will scan codes for free. Note: some code readers will actually erase zero points for auto window functions and yaw/decent control system so you may have to reset those before or after solving the CEL. do a search for "resetting zero points, yaw/decent control system 4runner" and "resetting auto window functions 4runner"

Well I have not done the OBD II code reader yet, but I did some research and any time you get a CEL the VCS OFF / VCS TRAC will come on.
But I do think it is one of the following.
Plugs
O2 sensor
Or on of the Coils.
Right now my gas mileage sucks.

OBD II scan reviels P0171 bank 1 sensor 1 which is the A/F sensor just forwared of the CAT right side.

Causes

A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
•The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty
Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
•There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor
•Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection
•Faulty or stuck open PCV valve
•Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1)
•Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector
•Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!)
•Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor

Possible Solutions

A lot of times, cleaning the MAF sensor and finding/fixing vacuum leaks fix the problem. If you're on a tight budget, start there, but that may not be the fix for certain. So, possible solutions include:
•Clean the MAF sensor. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with MAF cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
•Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace/repair as required
•Inspect all hoses and connections in the air intake system
•Inspect and/or test the intake manifold gaskets for leakage
•Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure

When the OBD II scan was hooked up the A/F sensor was showing 3.3 volts when it should be showing zero changed it out just now and it is good.

I've done a lot of searching on this, but I'll admit I've gotten confused.

Yesterday while driving home from work, the 4 lights (VSC OFF, Slip Indicator, ABS, and VSC TRAC) in the right-hand gauge pod lit up. While safely at a stop with the car still running, I connected my laptop to the OBD-II port. I did not obtain any codes, and my CEL never came on. There are no apparent symptoms, other than the lights coming on.

I then stopped the car to fuel up, and when I restarted it, the lights were all off. They have not returned. My wife says this exact thing (no refueling, but the lights went out after she stopped/restarted it) happened to her while she was driving it about 2-3 weeks ago.

Do I just need to go thru the Zero Point Calibration for the VSC? Anything else?

Right after I bought my truck it thru the same thing. Ive looked up a few ways on here on turning it off or resetting it, not sure what you would call it. There is one way if I can remember who posted the info link where you can jumper wire it to get rid of it.
