VSC Problems

So this morning I noticed that I had some idiot lights glaring at me from the instrument cluster. They are the VSC Off, VSC TRAC, the vehicle icon with the squiggly lines behind it and the Check Engine Light.
I haven't done any maintenance to it lately other than clip the wire for the DRL's a few days ago at the turn signal relay. It drives and runs normal and 4wd works. So is there an issue with the computer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When i got those lights on was because i did not close tight the fuel cap for a couple of days. I took my 4R to the dealer to get them reseted.

So I went out this morning and checked the fuel cap and it was barely in. The wife put gas in it the other day and didn't tighten it all the way. So I'm hoping that maybe that was the problem. Going to take it to Autozone tomorrow and see what codes are showing up and go from there.

If that turns out to be the problem, do I have to go to the dealership to have them reset so that the lights go out? Or will they eventually go out on they're own?

There you have, that's why your lights are on. I had the same problem. Accordingly to the guy from toyota, the lights must go off after couple of days. Being honest, i wait for those 2 or 3 days, and never went off, so i took it to the dealer to get them reseted. Am clueless about what they did or how they reseted.

Well it looks like the culprit was the loose gas cap. Disconnected the battery today and the lights are out. We'll see what happens in the coming days.

Thanks to all for the input!:thumb3:

so i'm in the same situation (cel, vsc off, vsc trac all up in my face). got a code read of p1185, fuel/air sensor. a couple days ago, after the lights came on, i turned off my 4runner and exited...passing right by the fuel tank. i noticed a fairly audible noise coming from the fuel tank area. seemed like every few seconds it was purging and making almost a jaws (think sharks circling) sound. i replaced the fuel cap yesterday and put it on - three or four clicks... today i could smell gas after getting out. check the cap and it was barely threaded on, like it had backed itself out. i tightened it and then noticed the air purge sound. any body have any idea how the eff to address this or what to check next? thanks
