vsc Trac Off/ MAF sensor CLEANING!!

Ok....I know nothing about working on vehicles. So advise me in a manner of cleaning the MAF sensor for dummies. The VSC Trac light, the Trac Off light, and the check engine light has been on for months. I have been told by various sources that I need to clean the MAF sensor. I need a step by step manner of how to do this, pictures would help.
I had my 2001 4Runner hooked to two different diagnostics machines. One said, it was the MAF sensor or the O2 sensor, the other said my plugs needed to be replaced. I am looking to sell the vehicle soon and hoped this would be an inexpensive fix. I must note that the front end is shaking quite a bit but it may just need an alignment.
Please help me out here!!

There is no code for bad plugs, only a miss code which could be a lot of things. What was the actual code(s) that you pulled? You have the same thread in the 3rd gen section so I would suggest deleting one of your duplicate threads.

We need info on your truck... year, engine, etc..
If yours is a '96-98 3.4, here's a write-up:

If you got a '99-02 3.4, here's a write-up:
Why no writeup for cleaning MAF sensor? - YotaTech Forums

There, that wasn't so hard. I found that info in about 30 seconds when I searched for it on Google. If you have a 2.7, the sensor may look different (I dunno), but the procedure is the same.

brian2sun....just new here and was in a bind....posting in two different forums was my attempt to get a quick answer as I am in a rush to get this fixed quickly. If I violated the forum etiquette, I do apologize but thanks anyway. BooTown has been tons of help and was not bothered that I posted twice.

I wasn't bothered either, I was just making a suggestion so we don't see a "Banned" under your name instead of "registered User". Sorry the 2 writeups I found for you and posted weren't of more use to you.

Brian2Sun and others. This is my frustration. I am trying to sell this 4runner and want to fix the problem cheap and do it myself. Am I lost with all the different advice. Synopsis of advice:
2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5
Dash Lights: VSC Trac, Trac Off, and check engine
Diagnostic Codes: P0446, P0441, P0440, P0442

Try this before taking it in. Pull the negative terminal for a few minutes and then reconnect. This will reset the computer and erase the trouble codes. If there is still an issue lights will come back on.

For now, I suggest you take a close look at BR001-04, and in particular the procedure on page 4 to perform the zero point calibration. It appears that you can do this yourself or could take it to a dealer. Obviously, though, you'd want to be very careful in deciding whether to attempt any of this yourself.

The p0505 code is an idle system control malfunction, the abs/vsc lights will turn on by default anytime the check engine light turns on, there is probably nothing wrong with them. There may be an easy fix for this, remove the air intake hose from the throttle body and clean the inside of the throttle body with some air intake cleaner and a small brush, clean all the carbon out then disconnect the battery negative terminal for about ten seconds to clear the code, drive it normally for about ten minutes, once the check engine light stays off the other lights will turn off as well.

----------------------------------------------
First of all the VSC OFF and VSC TRAC lights illuminate with the Check Engine light and when the problem is resolved they go off with the check engine light.

The first thing to check when u get a check engine light on a new car is your GAS CAP! This is a common problem where ppl don't twist their gas cap until they hear the click(s) and then an evap system code is thrown. If the cap is not tightened all the way. then tighten it and continue driving; then after so many driving cycles the Check Engine light, and the other two, will automatically turn off.

Another thing that sometimes happens is if your air filter was checked during the oil change it's possible a vacuum line was popped off accidentally (especially known to happen on the highlanders) and caused the Check Engine Light. If that is the problem, then take it in and let them fix it for free since they did it and let them reset the code.

And when tinkering I find:

I appreciate all of the advice including yours, but I am not sure not which way to turn as I do not have the cash to take to the dealer, and do not want to sink more money into a vehicle that I am selling
