VSC TRAC / VSC OFF Reset

It's a bit of a long story, but after a trip to the dealer, my Dad's 2004 4Runner came home with a check engine light (CEL) indicating he had a bad catalytic converter. Then the VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights came on. The CEL was reset, but we couldn't get rid of the VSC lights, until I found this video:

It worked perfectly.

As for the cause, from what I've learned, apparently there are multiple protocols used by the OBD II system. Occassioanally an error can occur that confuses the ECU in an "older" 4Runner, which is exactly what happened.

Please share this information. It took me a while to find it, but it is the exact procedure for resetting the VSC system.

One additional note: Make sure that your vehicle is on flat ground and the wheels are perfectly straight. Don't rock or bump the vehicle during the zeroing process.
