Hi, I would really appreciate if someone has had a similar experience and could help me figure out what's going on. I have had no work done to my car. A few weeks ago I suddenly would get the beeping swirvy tire alert on my dashboard... then eventually the two traction control lights would come on and stay on. It is a safety concern as well because in this process I would completely lose acceleration. I was going 35mph and a flat, straight road, and felt the loss of acceleration... I pushed the gas to the floor board and the car didn't respond. It eventually came back.
I can turn the car off and back on, and it will be off for a little bit and then eventually comes back on. It sometimes is fine for miles at a time. I dropped it off a toyota shop and they said they drove it 50 miles and it didn't act up and lights didn't come on (of course)- I drove to the shop and it took me just 5 miles before it came on for me.
There are no codes when they scan the computer. I did the zero point calibration... and so did they. No it doesn't give them any messages even though the light is on.
They have had my car for 5 days, and I still don't think they are paying it any attention or know what to do. They are taking my kindness for granted when I said to take their time. While I was there last Friday, they eventually came to me and said they think it is a steering wheel sensor? They said they would call me with a quote, and it's Sunday and they did not. I hope they actually did something and not waited till Monday, because now I need my car this week. To me it's tacky, figure out what the hell is wrong with my car and fix it and let me pay you for it.
He did not call me with the quote about the steering sensor like he said he would. But that brings up my main question: My steering is flawless... I have had no trouble with steering. When the light begins to go crazy, it's always when I'm going straight down a flat road. It did come on once over a speed bump however. I just don't see how a steering sensor is related. If nothing was done by Monday then maybe I should just go get my car and look elsewhere.
