Want to do a Retrofit

New Owner with a few questions

Hey Guys, I'm a new owner, just bought my 1998 two nights ago, with a few questions.



I'm looking to retrofit my headlights (already bought a kit) but I hate how the lens of the Headlight has all the little rectangles in it, so its really not all that transparent.

- What have you guys done with yours? Is there somewhere I can buy a new lens? Is there somewhere I can buy a whole new headlight with a completely clear lens?

- I also bought some 33" tires, that I want to put on today, but I haven't lifted it yet. How badly will it rub before I lift it? Should I wait until it is lifted?

The lights from before the mid model update are smooth on the inside. I'm kinda in the middle of my retrofit, but I used a combination of old housing and new glass. On my build thread you can see what this looks like on the first page. They are now out of the runner and I'm going to sand and paint them up...when I get a chance.

I actually had not seen that, thank you! I know how to do retrofits and everything about HIDs and whatnot, I'm just trying to find a proper casing.

One thing, is the headlight on the '98 the same as the '99 fitment wise? I found some lights that work, but under the cars that it works with it says '99-'02 4Runner.

They fit the same. Very common upgrade for us guys with pre-99 4Runners. The reason they're posted 96-98 & 99-02 is because the actual lenses are different. Pick up a set of 99-02 lenses (or lights) and you'll have exactly what you're looking for. And congrats on the new truck.
