Wanting to do a project but dont know what!

I've got a 2003 Limited v8 and I really want to get some after market stuff to enhance performance and also the look.

I was thinking starting off with a cool air intake and a new exhaust system but I really dont know what companies are best.

Also maybe some new headlights and taillights. but again, I im pretty new to this and dont know where to go.

If anyone knows the rear window tint percent would be nice, as i would like to match the driver and passenger window tint.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

K&N makes the best CAI's hands down IMO. I have one in every car I own including a bimmer and a Tahoe and its the first thing i always do. Exhaust can go both ways, IMO i chose flowmaster because its louder at lower speeds and is more throaty, where as Magnaflow is quieter at low speeds and louder at faster speeds with a more high pitched "jeep" sound. Rear windows are not technically "tinted" its factory stained glass, i believe its around 35 % ish
 
I have an aFe cold air and I like it a lot but I'm not sure they make one for the V8. I had a Volant CAI on my old Z71 (and I know they make one for the 4R V8) and it was great. I got the volant and the aFe because I've read that the closed box design is better for getting cold air. I've read the open element CAIs just pull in hot air from under the hood while the box ones pull in cool air from outside the engine compartment.

I think the rear windows are around 26%, there are threads here that discuss it but I can't remember where. I used 20% and it's slightly darker up front, if you do 35% it's going to be slightly lighter.
 
Get the 06+ LED Rears. Perhaps some new HIR front bulbs as HIDs are a no-no in a non-projector housing.

Do the entire car with tint - it will never match perfectly so just plan on having the back darker than the front. I did 20% on the front and 5% in the rear. I love it.

CAI/Exhaust is your choice. Both will increase the noise substantially with little to no noticeable power gain - especially if you get both and lose low-end torque.
 
If side windows are same as trunk window they are 26%. Couldn't find a match near me! Go 20% all around.

hids will work just fine in your reflector housing if you make sure and aim your lights lower afterwards

I'm gunna have to disagree with you on this one, HID's will work in regular housings. H.I.D's do not have to be in projector housings to work as berettashot117 said, (most cars dont come with projectors anyway) IMO H.I.D's are MUCH brighter not using projecter lamps. As for engine stuff, there is a slight possibility you might lose torque, but its not a substantial amount anyway, but usually doesnt happen. More then likley youl see a moderate to possibly large gain depending on what brands/styles/engine mods you do so that they all will work in sync to get the best performance, not against eachother which is where you lose HP and torque, does this look bad to you ?:hatsoff:

Ive decided to go with a K&N CAI (aFe doesnt make CAI for v8's) and also the Borla Cat Black Duel exhaust system. i found both on Autoanything.com for around 1200. (On the Borla site the exhaust went for almost 1200 alone).

I havent decided on head and tail lights yet but i think that will be something ill have to research more on

i have HID's with the stock headlights...i have the 6000k just bc they're closet to white...remember the lower the number technically the better visibility...i know when you go to the 4500k or lower they become yellow but are bright as anything
 
I like having HIDs in projectors but with that said, I've had multiple cars in the past where the factory HIDs were not in projectors. i.e. WRX STI and Lexus IS300. Didn't bother me either way... To each his/her own I guess.
 
I just did the Daystar lift on my truck and love the new look. I also put on Spidertrax which again makes the truck look even cooler. I'm just waiting until I get the itch to do another mod. I really like the Satoshi grill mod but am afraid to cut into my grill. My next goal would be to add a light bar for driving in the snow. Have fun it get's addictive.
 
search function, tons of writeups on headlights, tail lights, rear bumper lights, chance cluster lights, foglights, exhaust, u name it
