Was going to use the 4Runner to ask someone to prom........

But turns out the girl I was gonna ask already had a guy. DAMN.

I know there's a lotta young guns out here, so I think a lot of you would have the idea of prom fresh in your minds.

Ok. I think it's kinda a genius idea. I was definitely going to post pix of it, but since it ain't happening, it's not happening. But I'll explain it.

I don't know how I thought about this, but I planned on this. I was going to get some flowers, a box of candy, and a sign on the flowers with "prom?" on it. Simple, right? Then I was going to get the Dean of Discipline at my high school to give me and the girl a detention slip each. Then when both of us are called out of class, the Dean would mention that "You (me) have been suspected of carrying drugs on campus. I need to check your (my 4Runner) car as a school measure and you (the girl) have been told by an annonymous person that you are part of this".

Now that would stir her up, right? But here's the next part...

So all three of us (me, the girl, and the Dean) would walk out to my car. The dean (or maybe me) would unlock the car, and I'd roll down the rear window (this is how I thought of including the car cuz of that roll down window!). Then me and the dean would look inside, and he's say "Come here and please explain to me what is this?"
Then the girl would go to the back, and to her surprise, there would be the stuffs I would give her!

I think it's somewhat a great idea, because the whole "being in trouble" part would definitely throw off her mind!

I missed it by a couple hours though. AT first, i planned on just asking her and give her the stuffs later on. Apparently, at about 2pm, I asked her if she still wanted to go. She said that she didn't quite feel like it. WHAT? So I knew I still had time to ask her. Apparently, the place we went to with her friends, another guy (not even from my school!) asked her! Then later that night, about 6pm, my best friend was forced to going, and I promised him that if he goes, then I will definitely ask the girl. Well that's when i made that emergency text to her, and she mentions that someone already asked her! :sobbing: :sobbing: :sobbing: :sobbing: :sobbing: :sobbing: :sobbing: :dammit: :dammit:


But now I don't think of doing this plan on another girl. It's just that I felt that she was kinda, more special than other girls. But we'll see. Anyways, I think the moral of the story, is don't be too fancy and JUST DO IT! :bash:

No need to get fancy. You should have walked up to her and said I have 2 good reasons you should goto prom with me, and then hand her the chocolates or whatever. Then when she asks whats the second reason, tell her you'll "show" her after the dance, lol.

But seriously, be confident, walk up to the next girl and say "wanna goto the dance". All she can say is no, after which you can say nooo I said "you look fat in those pants."

Well I kinda had this "car" planned out because I knew that she knows how much I love, care for, and how meticulous I am with cars, so using the cars as a means of asking her would spark a lightbulb in her mind.

Well timing is everything! If I hadn't even made that "emergency" text, I would definitely be even more devastated the following day, when I find out (after buying all the stuffs and getting it all ready) that she's been taken!

But it's ok. She knows, and she said that w/o a doubt, even w/o this whole show, she would have gone with me. :clap:
But she really really thought it was a genius, and cute idea. I was just talking to one of her friends on myspace, and I asked her if she had mentioned about me and my plan, and her friend said "yes she thought it was really cute but is sad to say that she couldn't go with you (me)".

Darn, and I thought I could have contributed to the "girl w/4Runner" pictures because it's sort of a unique idea of using the car as a means of asking someone! Oh well. :violin:

Speaking about this girl, I try to keep the new car smell of the 4Runner for as long as I can. Yes you heard me right, I'm keeping all the windows and doors closed as much as possible, vents closed, etc. But this girl was with me last week when we went out for a starbucks, and she put lotion on :xnuts: and it still kinda smells like lotion in my car!

Here's 2 tips for ya:
1) if everyone knows how much you're crazy into cars, then do something different to impress a girl who already knows you. Don't be a one trick pony.
2) And when it comes time to making out in the 4R, whenever possible, have the rear seats already folded down, a blanket in back, and put on side 2 from Led Zeppelin 4....

hahaha. I didn't plan on going to that extreme, but thanks for the info though.. I'd love to post her picture up here, but I'd rather not, just to respect her privacy (besides maybe she might one day think of dropping by this forum and run into this thread and see her picture, then she'd be totally mad!) But maybe one of these days when we go out for a movie or something, and I have the 4R, then maybe we'll take a picture or something next to the car.

But as I said, if everything went out fine, I'd have a picture of it right up, just because the 4Runner was involved, and this is a 4Runner forum, isn't it???

It was funny today, she was in my car because we went out to lunch together. On the freeway back to school, I over took another classmate of mine, and she wanted to wave to him so i lowered the rear window (cuz they can't see thru the tint) and she waved out. Now it wasn't only the two of us that went to lunch but one of her friends too. She mentions that "Oh if Denny (my name btw lol) was quick enough before the other guy asked me, that window was suppose to be part of the plan he devised for asking me" and I almost cried just to listen to that, because she really liked the idea, wanted to go with me, but just didnt want to be rude to the other guy by flaking out on him.

But it's fine. I've planned for like 10 years or so in advance, for something more special. I got this idea from the broker of my dad's real estate company who bought a surprise GX470 as a wedding gift to his wife. I plan on doing the same some day, and I wonder if it'll be a 4Runner, or maybe something fancy that she wants?!?!??!!?! (whom ever that may be lol)

Oh yea, and I never mentioned that I've only really known and been friends with her for about 3 weeks now. lol. Let's just say it was a quick "construction" for the building of the friendship. Usually people take time to establish a good friendship, but this one took, literally only one day! This all started really after taking a placement test for college, and she was in the same room i was in. Then after the test I decided to take her for lunch or something. Then (she doesnt drive yet, she has to wait till 18 to get her license) I drove her home, and what really made me feel different about this friendship is that she introduced me to her family, and showed me around her house! Now I don't know how some of you lucky couples started out, but I don't think the first time you guys ever met, or went on a date, ever went INSIDE their house, meet their family, and get a thorough walk-through of the house, now did you??

haha. That's just what I was thinking of. Instead of wasting the money by going with someone I never planned or just for the heck of it, might as well spend the money on that stupid kicker panel where the dealer drilled a hole in the installation of the crappy aftermarket alarm when it was new.

I've been out of HS for 11 years, and I still remember my senior prom, or lack there of really. I was a very shy kid, and it took all my nerve up to ask a girl that I was friends with if she wanted to go to prom with me. I think she was into me before but I was too damn shy to really ask her out. Well when I finally sat down and asked her out formally, she started crying and said she couldnt because she promised someone else she'd go just an hour before. Then she talked to her friends about cancelling on the other one to go with me, since I think she really wanted to go with me but I just waited too long to ask. She ended up sticking to her original promise, which I told her to do that I didnt want her to break a promise anyway. She was such a sweet girl, and I always regretted waiting so long and being shy about it.

Moral is, chin up, and go ask, dont wait, dont try to make it all fancy, just honestly tell her how you feel, ask her if it's mutual, and ask her if so, would you accompany me to the prom. If you wait too long, you'll regret it. I know I did.

oh wow 1 hr! i would definitely hit my head on the wall if mine was the same! What kinda delayed me in asking her asap was when she mentioned to me(that same day she was in my car for a good 30 min!) that she didnt feel like going! Now that caught me off guard & I got really worried if I should ask her. Idk what her initial reaction was when I asked her but when I explained it to her over the phone I could tell that she was sad & could not even say a word for a few seconds after I was done explaining!

My prom is in 2 days i messed up too and waited too long, some of her frineds asked me if i was gonna ask her but i never really got or make the chance to ask her. when i finally did she already had a commitment o well, i had 3 backups just in case. I tried to make it a little dramatic but w/o the full attention of the other kids so one night I was thinking to myself "I dont use that rear window for hauling long stuffs or dogs but where can I use it within these next couple of weeks?" and thats where this whole plan popped up! Even my best friend wasnt surprised I would include the 4Runner in the picture! lol

Whoa this thread got moved.

Anyways, technically the 4Runner isn't under my name, but I use it more often than my parents. Seems like the parents now use the GX...... So I prefer the 4Runner over the Ody anyday. lol.

So here's more to this story. Today, she was with her friend, and i noticed in my rear view that they were behind me on the on-ramp. I once again lowered the window again, and my friend (a different one) was surprised how it opens, and thought it was cool, and it was then his turn to wave out to the girl. lol. Seems like i keep running into her a lot. Hmmm......:nerd: I don't know if she explained my car and the window being part of the plan, but now i'm really finding uses for this window! weird! lol. :biggrin2: :beer:
