Was there a V6 4x4 in the 4th Generation?

I'm guessing because people probably don't sell the V8s as often.

this is what I discovered when I bought mine.
when they do come on the market, they go FAST.

That's a certainly possibility. Being an 'enthusiast', I look for those details when I see another 4th gen on the road. I definitely see more V6's and I think that's partly because of the financial crisis and the sky high gas prices towards the end of the 4th gen life cycle. Thirsty V8's were out of favor with all brands. The 5th gen even came out with a 4 banger in 2010 to address the problem, lol.

You make good a point, because there was a time when the V8 was going out of style and fast… I remember when gas was like $4-5 a gallon, and my wife was still using the 4Runner as a commuter with a $300-400 / month gas tab.

We could have easily bought an econobox for that cost, but we stuck it out.

I remember going to the Toyota dealer, or any truck dealer for that matter… They were practically giving away full size trucks with the V8. I remember a friend making a comment about it “I wish I bought one then, because I could have sold it for the same price now”

I had the 4 liter engine in a 2013 Tacoma and a V8 in my 2003 Limited, and quite honestly, the difference in fuel economy isn't that great. But the V8 is way more fun to drive.

The actual fuel consumption isn’t that different, I will agree with that. But if we are talking about during the financial crisis, the perception of a V8 in general was very poor. People wanted to avoid them like the plague. I wish I took better notes of some of the Tundra pricing at the time but it was bottom dollar.

In general I agree that I do see more V6 models on the road than V8. I also look for the badge on the grill any time I see a 4th gen. These things really did come in a lot of flavors, couple years back I found a nice V8, but it was 2WD. I can see why the 4WD V8 models get snatched up fast and usually in the sellers favor.
