Watch face. Battery indicator at top left. Basically, after close to 19 hours with usage of 1 hours 50 minutes, my battery is at 53%. So, even with fairly active use, my 42" Apple Watch can easily lasts 1.5 days.

So, the Classic Buckle was great, but the perfect size for my wrist was b/w two holes...so, either it was slightly too tight or too loose. I returned it and Apple rep wanted me to try LEATHER LOOP. So, i picked up the Leather Loop BLACK for same price. Leather Loop does not feel as nice as Classic buckle in leather quality but like Milanese Loop, it is infinitely adjustable. Unlike Milanese, there are many magnets; so the grip is strong.

Finally caught my watch before it shuts down at 4% battery life. So, after about 35 hours, i have used the watch for 3 hours and 38 min. Battery life not bad for a 42mm Apple Watch...well over 18 hours quoted by Apple website.

The forbidden fruit must be tasted!!

(thinking of getting a refurb to save some $$, I know a new gen is coming next year, but I want some time to get used to it).

With the prices dropping, i would get one! I have one. I will be downloading WatchOS 3 beta when it comes out. WatchOS 3 will make my Watch really flies and sing! For me, it has motivated me to be more active and exercise...so, that alone has been a game-changer vs. wearing my traditional watch. (Yes, i am lazy. :D )

Yes, I believe even if I got a "dud", so what. I've seen then on fleabay for $250 (refurb). For that price, not a bad deal. I'm not an M.D. (just the office manager, LOL) so plucking down $400+ for one would make me feel guilty. I can always get another band (the bands I like are crazy expensive from Apple). Part of the motivation for wanting one is that I've started running (I used to run cross country when I was in high school) and would like stats, so yeah, motivation is always good when it comes to exercise.

Supposedly the next gen iWatch is supposed to be the "daddy" of all smart watches (vaguely remember your thread on this), so we'll see..........

Well, if you're a runner, then you may want to wait for Gen2 because rumor has that it will have integrated GPS. Otherwise, to path your run with Gen1, you need to bring your iPhone with you. I run on treadmill...so, Gen1 works great!

I have the Sport band (midnight blue) as my daily band...works great daily and during exercise. Very durable...looks like new.

But if you wait for Gen2, then expect to wait at least another year after intro for any discounts especially if Gen2 sales explodes even more. If you don't mind taking your iPhone with you on runs, then get Gen1.

My 101% guess for Gen2: slightly slimmer if at all (but still use same bands as Gen1; Apple may keep size same but put in bigger battery), faster chip (even tho Gen1 hardware is excellent as is) and slightly longer battery life due to better processor efficiency & slightly bigger battery, better water resistance for swimmers (even tho Gen1 is water resistant unofficially), and GPS +/- 3G connectivity.

PERSONALLY, I would wait for Gen3. Why? Gen2 is like the "S" series on iPhones. Very similar hardware. Gen3 will be big changes...like new micro-LED display rumored...and matched that to further refinement in processor (14nm?) and you can have DAYS of battery life. In addition, by that time, it may come with more sensors, like sweat analysis sensor (checking blood sugars etc.).

So, I will DEFINITELY skip Gen2.

This would be a pain, but so be it.

I can't have any band that isn't metal. My leather/rubber bands always start to stink after a few weeks with me, LOL.

That would be incredible and worth every pennies especially for those have have diabetes, WOW.

So, I will DEFINITELY skip Gen2.

The stand alone GPS would be nice, but not a deal-breaker for me. I'll post when/if I get one.

Thanks!

Apple fluoroelastomer band is really really nice. It does not attract dirt/lint/sweat like silicone bands. I have skin allergy to rubber bands...no such issue with Apple's. No wear and tear either. No smell...you just wash it with soap and water.

Didn't read all 7 pages, but in summary what do you use the watch for? and would you recommend it for the average person?

You may want to read the 7 pages. :D. I use it for notifications, silent alarms, texting, and exercise (I use treadmill). I also use it to check stocks quickly. Honestly, it has helped me get off my ass to close the activity circles.

My non-techy wife wears Rolex...until I gave her an Apple Watch. Now, Rolex collecting dust in closet. My non-techy father (74 years old) has one and he checks his pulse many times a day (he has heart arrhythmia).

We all have the stainless steel model with sapphire crystal.

I charge mine every evening while eating dinner and then wear it to bed. My father does the same and checks his heart rate during sleep in morning.

Hope this helps.

How Apple Watch can help seizure patients

Link: The Apple Watch App For Seizures May Soon Predict Their Onset | Fast Company | Business + Innovation

EpiWatch, from the user's perspective anyway, is a pretty simple app. Since people with epilepsy lose some degree of awareness, or else pass out completely, during a seizure, the app asks questions of the Watch wearer to find their awareness level. Rapid heart rate and convulsive body movements are also markers, so the app uses the Watch's sensors to detect those things too.

At the beginning of a seizure, when the patient feels an aura, they tap the lightning bolt icon (or "complication") to start the app. This immediately activates the Watch’s sensors, which begin collecting heart rate and body movement data. EpiWatch uses a combination of (subjective) patient response data and (objective) sensor data to detect and measure a seizure.

A sudden or rapid increase in heart rate is a key hallmark of a seizure. The Apple Watch uses a pair of green LED lights paired with light‑sensitive photodiodes on its underside to detect changes in the volume of blood running through the wrist. This provides a reasonably accurate look at the user’s heart rate.

"The majority of seizures are associated with changes in heart rate, the most dangerous ones in particular," Crone says.
