watches...

So what you're saying is that you wear your Omega and Rolex when you want an artistic status symbol on your wrist? :banghead:

I'm sorry your $50 Seiko 5 lasted only as long as your Rolex and Omega before it needed maintenance (or replacement) in its completely automatic movement... Many can last much longer without doing a thing.

You're not really proving any points with your arguing. I understand what you are saying - you don't need to fire back and put in capital letters how many times you mentioned your argument.. Lol

You Sir are the embodiment of what I have been getting at this whole time. Not all "high end" watch owners are like yourself however.

Oh and I'm shocked you took a nap and stayed away from this forum for a few hours!

But alas, you won't let this end - I'm sure of it. So I'll likely bow out gracefully like I wanted to do awhile ago until you went too far...

And I don't know anyone else on here that's created enemies that actually follow them around like that. You must be doing something right Thai... Good job!

Interesting...how blinded you can be. This is what you got out of my post? Geez. Oh yeah, my Seiko5 crystal popped out and my rattling noisy bracelet broke. Yeah, it was beyond reasonable repair! Did I expect more? No, because it was dirt cheap to begin with. (The newer Rolex SEL bands are simply gorgeous and marvelously designed!)

I wear my Rolex for the intrigue of the mechanical movement. I appreciate it for what it is...I could care less what others think...thus, it is NOT a status symbol to me. See, despite my capitalization, you remain blinded. I still don't think that you understand...because you keep on emphasizing your "sarcasm."

Was it really sarcasm? Poor boy argument? Or was it your chance to look down on others? That is pretty sad IMHO. I know your original post was not about sarcasm...you know that. Don't backtrack now Stanley.

Wait, you bow out now? But, you have backed your backend in so often now!! Don't make a liar out of yourself, ok?! Oooo, I went too far? Damn, you're a sensitive poor guy, aren't you?!!

Unlike you, I have an appreciation of all watches, from cheap to expensive. I wear both ends because each represent an interesting technology or way of doing the same thing...well, my Rolex ain't that high-end, but you get my point.

Hey, thanks! 04rnr is a sensitive fellow like you...he got offended in a cell phone thread (of all things!) and crap in his pants...now, he just roams the forum pointlessly trying to "get back at me." Obsession...kinda weird too...remind me of fatal attraction! :( Sadly, he and I probably share more of the same opinions on many things (4runners, guns, dislike of Obama, etc.), but he got his panties all twisted when he was proven wrong about his Android phone...he missed the fact that I am an Android (and Apple) fan too. He has held a grudge THAT long! :(

One day, you will see that I am right...about watches. :) If you get a chance, then go to a watchmaker and see what it takes to work on a mechanical watch...see the complexity and beauty of it. It inspired me to have the opinion that I have.

back to the topic on hand:

OP, I like the one you pictured in your original post from Luminox. This is the one my wife bought me for Christmas and I could not be happier with it. Simple, looks good, and so far, is rugged as hell. I beat my stuff up pretty hard (insert joke here) and have always been cautious of buying nice stuff. This one has not disappointed. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your search.

I think that Hamilton is my favorite out of your list.

Good luck with your search!

I bought the Citizen about 20 min ago. Outstanding look and bought it in Macy's for and unbelievable $265 after all the sales and discounts. Watch looks incredible in person. Very professional and classy.

And that's with the titanium strap. Titanium looked to sharp to pass up. Unbelievable for $265.

So, you bought THAT one above, right? Congrats! That is a freaking bargain! Sapphire and never-ending battery life for under $300 is a GREAT deal! And it is titanium too! Nice! You got over your white stitch phobia! :D

Wear it in good health! Nice find!

Oh.....the best part is I was in and out of Macy's in 9 minutes and still made my train out of Penn station. Store was a zoo and the sales lady was a damn magician for figuring out all the sales and discounts, opened a Macys credit card acct for me, and then ran me over to the adjustment guy who took 2 min to adjust it. All this in 9 minutes.

I then walk outside and it torrentially pours on me with the watch on after all of 90 seconds of ownership. I'm drenched. Watch is drenched. Whatever....guess its broken in now. Welcome to NY, new Citizen watch.

Adjustment? It is leather band, no?? Or did you buy one with the metal band? If so, then that is a great deal! Take a pic of it?

Thanks. That's the one but with the Titanium.

Also, while I'm briefly waiting for the adjustment, another guy is there having a new watch for his girlfriend adjusted. He tells me it's because she bought him a NY Ranger jersey. I tell him I'm a gigantic Devils fan. He tells me to go f*** myself and I tell him and his girlfriend to go f*** themselves. Have a nice day. All like its normal and expected. And all within the same 9 minutes. Hockey is serious business around here. That's how we roll in NY.

I'm still on the train using my iPhone. Will try to figure out how to get a pic posted.

So all fighting aside (no more carrying on the argument please). In all seriousness, you're starting to make me not enjoy the Seiko 5 Sport I got this father's day from my wife and 9 month old daughter as much as before...

I researched for weeks picking what I wanted and was so excited about the glory of an automatic movement, and frankly my parade is being rained on! Lol. Seriously, I want/wanted to have this thing for years as the first father's day with my daughter of many in my life, and chose the nature of the automatic over the convenience/accuracy/etc of the likes of an Eco-Drive (was high on the running of course). And we "could", of course afford one of these "high end" watches if we wanted, but that wouldn't be right of me to spend that much on myself right now with the fam.

I'm looking at the watch on my wrist right now and can only now think of this "Internet argument" now - lol.

I understand now why you like Seiko5 so much before. Congrats on the father's day watch dude. I have an 8.5 month old kid too...but he didn't give me nothing for father's day! :D Well, he did recently get over a nasty bout of diarrhea...that's plenty for me!

Well, this thread did make me wear my Seiko more often, especially now that hikenbike has a titanium Citizen!

You can thank Apple. Guess they put a pretty decent camera in these things.

Nothing like my Nikon D90 though.

iPhone camera is top-notch among top phones. (Nokia PureView being excluded.) I have Note 2, which has same camera as GS3...and I am pretty much disappointed vs. my old iPhone 5.

hikenbike...get CORTEX CAMERA app! It will drastically improve your low-light pictures. It only works on still objects...but it will make your iPhone camera even better! Guaranteed! iPhone camera is excellent in daylight. With this app, it will beat anything now, including HTC One and GS4, in low-light. I love it on my wife's phone...and miss it dearly when I switch over to Android. (No Android equivalent...I did email developer to beg him to make an Android counterpart.)
