I understand now why you like Seiko5 so much before. Congrats on the father's day watch dude. I have an 8.5 month old kid too...but he didn't give me nothing for father's day! Well, he did recently get over a nasty bout of diarrhea...that's plenty for me!

Well, this thread did make me wear my Seiko more often, especially now that hikenbike has a titanium Citizen!



iPhone camera is top-notch among top phones. (Nokia PureView being excluded.) I have Note 2, which has same camera as GS3...and I am pretty much disappointed vs. my old iPhone 5.

hikenbike...get CORTEX CAMERA app! It will drastically improve your low-light pictures. It only works on still objects...but it will make your iPhone camera even better! Guaranteed! iPhone camera is excellent in daylight. With this app, it will beat anything now, including HTC One and GS4, in low-light. I love it on my wife's phone...and miss it dearly when I switch over to Android. (No Android equivalent...I did email developer to beg him to make an Android counterpart.)

Actually - she was born on Oct 9th. Sounds like they're very close on age! (She's not quite 9 months yet - obviously).

10/8/1982 is my wife's, and my daughter was 10/9/2012. Quite interesting!

First signs of labor right when we were getting ready for bed on the night of my wife's bday lol.

The one in the photo, I assume. Not the original Brietling rubber band...

I got it on a website called west coast time. I wanted the military-style strap because it's light and simple. Plus the Brietling band was too thick to mount a compass.

I think mine is the "Regimental UK" version on that website. It was advertised as having holes that wouldn't wear out because they were heat-sealed with a laser or something funky like that. I was skeptical so I bought two. Two years later, I'm still using the first band. It's got some wear, but it's still solid.

Top pic came out a little blurry - sorry.

Could you post 1 more picture of the end of the band so I can see if its rounded, squared, angled, etc.

A few of mine, have a few Breitling's keep them in a Nike shoe box in my gun safes. The SS Sub belongs to my 14 year old son, EXP II belongs to my 12 year old son. Since I retired, I could careless about the exact time, I get there when I get there. My 14 is of the same mindset. He never wears his. His theory is someone nearby always has a phone with the time on it ( he seldom carries his iPhone - as a hunter he is all about the long rifle instead).

But things are changing, he and I went to lunch the other day,we live at the beach and we had the top down on the car. Waiting to turn right at a light some older girls were waiting to cross the street. He wore his watch that day and since he is a big boy , 5'11" and had sunglasses on plus a cap they thought he was older than 14. They asked him were he was going. Light changed and off we went, he looked at me and smiled. I told him sadly it's all about the car and watch in So Cal. He smiled and understood.

The Casio is solar powered and the time is set by radio all the time. I wear that hunting and when I do wear a watch.

I have heard of them, but never bought from them. That is a very nice watch...but for me, if I am going to buy >$500, then I might as well save up some more money and get a nice automatic watch (e.g. Tag for example).

Another greatly under-appreciated brand is Longines. I had a Longine watch once...very high Swiss quality. The automatic movement is standard ETA but the watch band is very high quality.

You can get this same watch on eBay for around $900-1000. It is automatic.

After getting my Citizen a couple of weeks ago (which I love BTW) I have have a hair up my ass about getting a classy looking diver. I like the Seiko I mentioned earlier and these from Christopher Ward.......

You may not want to spend more than $700 for a watch...but how much is all your (potential) watches adding up? Your Citizen is $300 or so (forgot exact amount) + $700 for Mr. Ward's watch(es) + whatever you fancy down the road with this new passion! I am a watch lover, but i don't "collect" them. I aim for the one that i want the most and buy it...and never look back. Because if you don't go for something uber nice, eventually you will spend more overall on lesser watches.

You want a nice sports watch? Get one. Spend (or wait till you have enough) to get a really nice one...like Omega Seamaster with the 8500 caliber. Yeah, it costs a pretty penny, but you buy ONE in your lifetime and forget about ever needing to look around for something better.

Just my opinion. Good luck in your searches.

Omega Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean. Like stated by Ol'Blue Everyman should own one good watch. That's what my wife said and she bought this for my 40th.
