Water/air/fuel in factory spare location?

Has anyone that moved their spare used the vacated area for something new? I was thinking of using it to carry a Jerry can, or water containers, or an air tank.

Ideally you could add an extended range fuel tank that would fill and dump from the factory tank but that is a big ask. lol

I've searched around a bit but only came up with a few ideas.

Doesn't look like that went anywhere. I'm sure 300 miles is plenty for the majority of 5th gen owners, as it usually is for me as well.

A water tank would be the easiest thing to fit there but probably not the most useful, for me anyways. An air tank would get the most use since I air down basically every time I go offroad.

Check out Post #71 on the last page. That looks like an option. The last two pics are of a tank (Jerry Can) in the spare tire location. If not, an air tank would be awesome too.

[MENTION=165711]Big Daddy K[/MENTION] check out what [MENTION=102455]gmercier[/MENTION] did in post 20 of this thread. rotopax 4 gal on the large mounting plate. once the hoist assembly is fully removed it bolts up perfectly across the frame and tucks up almost out of sight. it's no aux fuel tank but pretty good use of the space if you don't need it

Oh yeah, I saw that. That's not a bad idea, they'd be a little vulnerable down there but not too bad. It would just be a pain in the @$$ to actually use them. lol

What do you mean? Crawling on your back dropping the can, getting the gas into the tank, getting gas spilled on your hands, then having to crawl back down into the dirt, to put the empty tank back under the truck with rocks sticking in your back. Yeah that is not easy... But whats better? That or running out of gas in the middle of nowhere?

Yeah that is not easy... But whats better? That or running out of gas in the middle of nowhere?

Yeah, that whole situation... The more I look at it, the more I think about adding a pancake air tank and tying that in with my compressor. I need air a whole lot more than I need spare fuel. I'll have an empty swing out when my [MENTION=131444]C4 Fabrication[/MENTION] bumper arrives, and I typically have room on the roof rack. So I have fuel mounting options when the need arises.

Mount the tank below where the spare is, have my spare on a rear swing out, and mount the compressor where the factory jack is located. I will then run my rear air bags to the compressor and install a qucik connect somewhere near the rear of the rig for filling my tires/paddleboard.

Should be something I tackle in the next month.
