Water crossings and getting stuck

Hey all,

Went on a road with a buddy two days ago and came across a large puddle that was about 2 feet deep. He was able to get through it with his vehicle but when I did the same line my Gas tank skid got high centered on a rock in a deep spot. My front end was up to the mid part of my valance so the air intake was above the water line but my back end was just barely up to the bottom of my doors and a small amount of water got in the cabin. We were able to get my out of the spot in under 2 minutes. I vacuumed most of the water out and pulled the drain plugs under the frame.


Main question is there anything I should be super concerned about if my engine is running fine and 4WD works. I've driven 100 miles since it occurred and haven't noticed anything different in driving just want to make sure there isn't anything I should be worried about? I know mold is a big one etc.

check your diffs, fluid is probably fine but worth looking

if it was a mud puddble make sure your radiator isn't clogged and check that things like your alternator aren't clogged with mud.

you can get some biocide for the carpet but if you dried it quickly and haven't noticed any odors yet you're probably okay

You might want to check if water got into the rear differential if you never did the rear breather mod.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your truck is going to smell the the bottom of your gym bag in a few days. There's a bunch of padding on the underside of the carpet that holds moisture like a sponge. Even when it's dried out that stuff starts to get funky almost immediately. Since the carpet is basically solid plastic the moisture can't get out through it.

The other guys mentioned the diff and such. Always good to check that too.

you probably want to pull your carpet and/ or keep a dehumidifier running in the truck for the next few days. Mold is a ***** to get out... it almost totaled my 2000 pathfinder.

That's the plan, vacuumed it daily, baking soda, and mold spray. Over nighted a small dehumidifier off amazon to keep it running all day tomorrow.
