Water leak

I just bought this truck and it is leaking through the firewall at the plug that the hood release cable passes through. Attached are a couple of pictures of it. Am I missing something, or should I just caulk around it? I know it seems like no big deal but my carpet was nasty from this small leak.

Here it is. Not sure if I'm missing any parts or if this is installed wrong? I don't want reinstall my carpet until I fix this.

Easy fix

Here is the fix.
Someone (inexperienced) runs a wire through that grommet, they split it.
I had the same issue and now no more.
Did the same to my friends 03 tacoma as he too says water on the driver side carpet after a rain.

Thank you Nissanh! Where did you get the rubber piece and what type of caulk or glue is it attached with? It's amazing how something so small can really ruin a vehicle. Thanks again!

I had that problem when I cut my grommet. I just used some generic silicone and cover the holed and moved wires in and out cover them also. worked perfect. no more leaks. :usa2:

Same. ran wiring for my trans temp gauge through there and started leaking after the first rainfall. Gooped it up with Black RTV and it hasn't leaked since.

I checked this spot after a rain. Water from the cowl pours DIRECTLY over that grommet... bad design, but easy fix, at least - just make sure it is fully sealed.

I have wires going through that grommet too, but sealed well enough and in a spot where the water doesn't run, luckily...
