Wind and gas mileage weren't bad. I'd say the biggest hit to my MPG was tires and lift. I'd probably estimate about 1.5MPG loss freeway. Right now I get about 13MPG combined on a good tank, so I haven't been too concerned.
I store my bedding, clothes, ladder, pillows all inside so I can literally roll up to camp, crank it open and get to bed. Since the RTT can accommodate full bedding, I've seen people use their comforters inside also. It might be a little hard to close depending on how thick your bedding is though.
So far I've run this through quite a few really gusty nights, including a pretty bad storm while camped on the edge of the Grand Canyon where it hit over 50mph. I'd say it holds up very well. While the tent construction is pretty sturdy, the zippers, flaps, and buckles will make quite a ruckus in really high winds.
As far as comfort, it's pretty nice inside. Longest I've been inside has been 8 nights, and I can't really complain. Since its a little smaller than standard tents, it does warm up rather quickly (which is a good or bad thing depending on your climate). On really cold nights I'll use an RV mattress heater pretty sparingly just to get the mattress up to temp. You can also buy thicker mattress material (or get a mattress topper) if you desired.
I'm running the Front Runner Maggiolina brackets for the K9 rack. DO NOT use the K9 brackets unless you want your tent to fall off, as it is not very heavy duty and can slip out.
This happened over some whoops on the Mojave Road:
Three of the 4 brackets failed at about 40MPH over the dunes, and my tent was literally hanging on by a single bolt.
