Weight of new front bumper?

Hey there, so I'm looking at front bumpers for my 4runner. Most likely a shrockworks one. But I read somewhere that the weight wouldn't be good for stock suspension. Now, I don't have stock suspension in the front, I have 5100 bilstein adjustable struts so it's lifted about 2.5inches, would the weight affect the lift I have currently? Because I don't want that. And if it did affect the lift what can I do to keep it lifted. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question I'm still learning! Thanks for the help! :) Savannah

Demello is working on an aluminum version of his front bumper. I saw the prototype when I stopped by his shop a couple of weeks ago. It looks great and he said it only weighed 40lbs... That might be an option for you.
 
If you still have the stock coil springs, I would think that the aluminum Demello would be your best option because most others are upwards of 100 lbs. If I remember correctly, the Shrockworks is around 140 lbs. My CBI front bumper weighs about 115 lbs and I think that would squat the stock coils quite a bit. And that's just static load. Ideally, your coils should be rated to handle the additional weight.
 
I have 5100s with toytec adjustable and they seem to be stiff enough not to sag under the weight of my Shrockworks. But yes if i remember right the pallet delivered was about 180lbs. So if you take off the weight of the pallet you are looking at about 135-145

If I added something like this: Adjustable Front Coil Over Kit for Bilstein Shocks
would I be good to go?

That should do it... I think that those coils are rated at 600 lbs/in (like mine) and I think that you can get different rated coils from Toytec. Call them up, tell them what you're planning, and they'll help you get what you need.

The front end of my 4Runner with those 600-lb coils sinks 1/4" with about 170 lbs on the front. I haven't driven it with the weight on the front, but I think those 600-lb coils will handle the weight just fine... time will tell. I'm hoping to get my bumpers powder-coated soon!

Depends, Aluminum is lighter, bit its also sticker and requires thicker construction to meet similar strength requirements of steel usually, and it will most likely mar and damage easier.

Kind of what I was thinking. Sure will be lighter but nervous about taking on obstacles like steel would and be more susceptible to breaking.
 
If your going to be installing 140# bumper and eventually a winch (65-90#) I would look at setups with 650# springs. Toytec should have both options available. Putting a heavy bumper on the OEM springs is not really recommended.

I have installed our bumpers (shrockworks) on a number of different rigs with different set ups and the results have always been rather consistent.

Our bumper installed alone, even with stock suspension takes a very small toll on your ride height. You wont see more than 1/4 of an inch. Some say that they noticed a slightly different ride, but having our bumpers on 3 of my own vehicles I have never noticed enough to mention.

Now, if coupled with a winch which usually adds in the neighborhood of 90 pounds, I have seen as much as 1/2 of an inch of reduced ride height. Even with a heavier rated aftermarket spring.
