Weird Cappacino Color inside oil filler tube?!

So I just took the top off of the oil filler tube on my 2004 4runner and noticed this greasy cappacino colored buildup on the cap and inside the tube going down to the timing chain. Anyone have any ideas what it could be? i use Castrol Edge and replaced it 13,000 miles ago. Thanks.

Sounds like 13,000 mile old oil buildup.

I thought it could be that or a little moisture got in there. I double checked and it was only 10K miles ago according to my records. The weird thing is that I have been doing 10-12K mile oil changes for the past 4 years with no issues. I think I am going to switch back to Mobil 1 EP and see what happens. I think I may have put some Marvel Mystery Oil in when I did the last oil change, and I wonder if that had something to do with it.

Just did some searching and it seems that this is pretty common in cold areas for our engines. Look at the link below from tacoma world. Post #38 has a BAD issue with this. Mine is nowhere even close to his!

Whoa interesting, and good to know. I live in just about the furthest you can imagine form a cold climate and have never seen that, but I've also never gone past 5k on an oil change

I just noticed this over the weekend when I changed my oil. I have been using mobil 1 full synthetic for at least 50k miles and last changed the oil about 6k miles ago. I have been changing my own oil for years, this is the first time I noticed anything like this. Just curious if anyone has an idea what it is?
