Yo! Y'all!
Finally got my hands on the gold limited 4Runner my dad bought new in '98,...garaged with 112K. I've been driving it for about 4000 miles. It's taken this long to get the sticky stuff off the leather steering wheel, vent the perfume smell, and wear the slightly warped rotors to near normal brake response. 3.4L V6, the ECT makes it go fast! I got it cheap but had to supply it with new rubber, so it sports 265x70x16s now.
I'll try to post pics ASAP,...it is one pretty 4Runner.

You are right, unfortunatly some roads are really terrible. I live in São Paulo, and the roads here are very good but this is an exception in Brazil, and we pay tolls too expensive for this.

In my opinion, 4Runner is an exceptional 4x4, before buying my 4Runner, I had a 98 Cherokee Sport (XJ). It´s a good 4x4 too, but in my oppinion 4Runner is better... of course.

Unfortunatly here in Brazil we don´t have a lot of options in accessories like in USA for 4Runner, I´m looking for stores in USA that send parts and accessories to Brazil. When I had a XJ I used buy parts at Quadratec, Rockauto and 4WheelParts, but the main problem is the shipment costs and the tax that I pay when the parts arrive here.

Hello to all. I have a 2001 4R, 92K, love it. About a week ago I started hearing a noise/vibration when I reached 70mph. I was on my way to New Orleans (about 500 miles). At that time I could push it on up to 76mph and the sound quit. By the time I got back home the sound had changed so that it starts at 63mph and doesn't stop all the way up to 80. I've put new tires on it (it was ready for new ones anyway), checked drive shaft and u-joints, pulled on the tires top and bottom with the wheels off ground and there is no slack as in worn wheel bearings, I checked fluid in differential and transmission and levels are good and color is good. When I put the trans in neutral at high speed, the sound is unchanged as in no association with engine rpms. Finally took it to a friendly mechanic who put it up on the rack and 2 mechs spent 15 minutes checking everything they could think of, finding nothing that seemed out of the ordinary. He suggested that I might try new shocks or go ahead and replace the drum bearings, more from a lack of ideas of what else to try than seeing any issues with them. The noise is not loud, must have windows up and radio off to hear it, but seems to be getting worse as in the wider range of speeds at which it can be heard. I hate to spend time and money on these things just as a shot in the dark. Has anyone out there had a similar experience, or have any ideas as to what might cause this? I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter. K

pretty sure that's your u joint. Had mine do the same thing... replaced the ujoint, and no more vibrations.

Esta bien ya entendi tres opsiones para levantar la runner . Los separadores (espaciador ) de espirales sabes de que medida son , esos los puedo hacer yo si tengo la altura del separador
la runner tiene colocados unos unos espirales (muelles) y amortiguadores delanteros que no son originales que regulan la altura
pero no se cuanto mas puedo modifcar su altura .voy a poner fotos

tune up for my 98 4runner

Hey everybody I wanted to start doing work on my 98 4runner. If anyone could tell me the tools I need and anything else to do a tune up on my car it'd be much appreciated. It's the 3rz engine.
