Went off-roading today... pics and videos

Hit up a few trails near colorado springs. wanted to see what i could do with the new tires and bumper. i was pretty impressed considering i dont have any lockers

Great shots man, and very capable rig! These things will amaze you, even without lockers! I surprised myself last year when I took mine out with a bunch of Jeepers in September!

sorry detwizzle. this trail run was kind of a last hoorah
im moving in a week which sucks. moving to place with no mountains or trails or off roading fun. i hope to be back here in colorado springs in about a year.

thanks hepar, i thought red was an appropriate color, it turned out pretty good. it was a blast. i love getting to spend all day up in the mountains testing my rig

hopefully when i make it back in a year i will be fully locked, geared and have some more trail armor so i can hit some more aggressive trails

Looks fun! Eagle Rock is a great, challenging trail. I broke a CV towards the top and had to limp almost the whole way back down just to find a level spot to change it!

it was a blast. there were a ton of rocks which made negotiating the trail quite a challenge. it sucks that you broke a cv axle. how did you manage that? were you disconnected in the front?

It was on one of the steeper hill climbs thats was rutted out quite a bit and I was using a little too much skinny pedal. Learned the hard way to be very careful when trying to power over things with your wheels spinning... all the force of a wheel spinning than all of a sudden catching some traction is too much for the CV sometimes. haven't broken a CV since though. (knock on wood)

i havent broken one yet. i have been reading about ways to break them and have been careful not to follow suit. i have been fortunate not to break one yet though because sometimes i get a little carried away with that pedal and try to power through stuff i shouldnt lol

Yes it's a fine line, I always stick to low speed crawling as much as possible now. But CVs can break that way as well haha... I actually think that by breaking that one is how I learned where the limit is for CVs, so now I know about how much I can push it.

Oh, and no my front sway bar was on was connected for that trail if that's what you meant.

i know what you mean. i have been pushing my rig more and more thinking one of these times im gonna break one but i havent yet. im waiting for it to happen. i've prepared a cv kit for when it does happen lol

i was just curious about the sway bar because i run with mine off most of the time and was curious if that played a factor in yours breaking

I've had mine completely off now for a while now. I don't think that'll make a CV more likely to break. I've had my front wheels flexed all the way many times while crawling with no breaks. There are other components that keep the wheel from drooping too far.

i always thought that being disconnected played a role in cv break but im still kinda new to ifs and im still learning
