Wet driver's side floor (under mat)

Collision repair technician, fixed a few water leaks and flooded vehicles. Don't let tape stay on too long or tear it off too fast, removing tape residue is worse than fixing water leak. Best of luck!


P.S. Be careful of tape on seal around sunroof don't rip seal. place tape on denim jeans first then apply to sunroof it wont be quite as sticky.

Check the firewall gromet and also the door gromet, could be just loose or u ran new wires through a big opening and didnt seal it up. Take some pics of the wet fiberglass padding.

In the process of disassembling the interior the carpet needs to come out. I think it's coming from the l/r side of the roof rack now I need to prove it .

Call me crazy but I think it's coming from by the shifter, cause there was traces of water by the shifter the carpet was damp there as well

Now go use your A/C for a few hours and see if water starts coming in. If so, it's a clogged A/C drain.

I froze my ass off all day with the a/c blasting and still dry if it wasn't for the terrible Mildew smell that gives me headache I would say f@&$)(ck it.

its probably your heater core. happened in my old honda but that was the passenger side. check to see if its coolant or water

If it was the heater core leaks I would think you could smell the fluid as it has a distinctive small.

If all fails for finding leaks, Remove carpet, plasic interior covers, and anything possable to remove and put your self in the situation of when leaks appear. Might be easier to spot where is coming from. Just a sugestion.

cd try covering everything in baking soda,
1. will help with the smell,
2. you will easily be able to see where water touches the baking soda that way you can see if there is some kind of water trail and you could follow it.

So, I took the carpet out and here's what I found out so far - looks like it's taking watter only when driving (in the rain, of course). Watter seems to be appearing on the left side of driver's floor, somewhere underneath the electric connectors or parking brake pedal.
I can't find a place where is it seeping through or where is it dripping from. Doesn't seem to be coming from the front part from underneath the rubber insulation either - but I'll pull this out on the weekend too, just to make sure I got it all open.
I'm getting closer to the idea of pouring the baking soda or some sort of powder all over the floor to pinpoint exact location of water seepage.

I eliminated sunroof drain possibility - it was nice and sunny day today, so I opened the roof and kept pouring the H2O into the driver's side drain. All the water was coming out nicely from underneath the car, nothing on the inside.
I will do same with the windshield and hood area tomorrow.

So, couldn't attend the problem in over a week. But got nice rain today and I was able pinpoint the spot, where the water appears first. Looks like it's seeping through right underneath the cable attached to the floor. Will try pull the plastic hook out of the floor and lift and secure the whole cable assembly to figure out exact entry point. It's kind of tricky looking down there while driiving in poring rain :-D Will try carwash on the weekend - might be enough for the water start getting in.

Looks like I'll have to take that blue electric connector box out somehow - I saw the water running down in the corner behind that box and underneath the rubber insulation pad on firewall.

To make things more interesting, found a new leak in cargo area too - that one was easy one - the rubber boot for cables coming from the cargo door to the roof area looks like is leaking - will try some silicone to seal it.

I'm pretty sure that when water goes near the bottom windshield drains, it comes out under the fender, not anywhere near the door drains. The door drains are for the window sill, since that isn't 100% water tight.

But I would start looking all around the drivers wheel well area, sounds like a bolt, the fender lining is cracked/ ripped/ bent out of place and it is letting water to a improperly sealed rubber grommet or something and is letting the water pour in.

Just a shot in the dark, but have you guys done the upgrade for the AC relay? Before my AC relay went totally dysfunctional it got stuck engaging the AC compressor which pumped the system full of refrigerant and I got a lot of condensation under the glove box. It was very intermittent, and there was no sign from the dash that the compressor was stuck engaged. I remember taking corners and hearing the refrigerant sloshing around in the system (and thinking WTF is that :der:?)

Later the relay stopped working altogether and the AC light would start to flash and I put it all together then.

You could test by yanking the AC relay and seeing if you are still getting moisture in the cabin.

I think you might be right. I didn't have chance do anything yet, just driving with carpet off now.
As for the A/C relay - I can hear some liquid running occasionally when turning but no water appears after that - I thought it might be some water stuck under the windshield ...
Weather is getting warmer now so I'll be looking into it shortly and will keep this tread updated.
