Thanks but I don't think tire rack lists every tire available. This if seems hard to find. Bfgs look like they are discontinued for instance even though they show up the most on searches.

And a bit of googling would tell you that's not true. They changed serial numbers, some places said they couldn't order them, everybody panicked, they're back in stock and everything's cool now.

Off the top of my head, BFG KM2s and Toyo MTs are the only 255/85r16s left on the market. Cooper had one but they're phasing out that entire tire in favor of the ST Pro. There's a couple 255/80r17s if you want to change wheels, and the BFG KO2 is available in a 34x10.5r17 flavor too. Expedition Portal has a thread where they're keeping tabs.

Id really like to get the KO2 in the 255... im currently running Cooper AT3 in a 265/75 setup and have been pretty pleased but really do like the tread/shoulder pattern on the new BFG

Per BFG website only KM2 available in that size. You can get the KO2 in a 305/70r16 and 285/75r16.

No you dont. 255's ride same just the 305s are way wider. The width doesnt affect the gearing. If anything the 255's ride a little taller and would need gearing more than the 305.

I ran them all on stock gears. Its not bad enough that I would go back to a small tire. Yes gears would be nice, I would get to use my overdrive on the mountain passes but its not that bad. As long as AC is not running im fine. When climbing the pass and ac running, she struggles a little. Still worth the larger tire.

My 285's on my last truck were frustrating until I got my 4.88's. Mason, have you driven E load range yet? It's worth a test drive to see if you mind the difference. Your truck drives so well, I'd hate to have that tarnished by tires that are frankly too stiff for our truck.

Another thing to keep in mind is the weight of the tires. 255 85 Km2s are a fair bit lighter than the 305s and have less rolling resistance. I drove a buddies 3rd gen with 285 75 16 and mine is noticeably peppier with the 255s.

295/75/16 is epic, I just made the switch, with 4.30 gears it's doable, definitely not the quickest pick up time anymore, but it's still worth the awesome look and ability to go more places.

I've got 255/75/17's and I love them. I'm not sure if I will go to a 255/80/17 or stay with my current size whenever these wear out, but that won't be for a while.

Yea I think this will be my next tire. I love the width of my 305's but I can loose a little to sit a little taller.
