What are the best rotors, calipers and brake pads

My 04 Sport is pulsing the brake pedal and shaking the wheel worse and worse. Had front rotors and brake pads replaced 6 months ago, just as bad now! Truck has 104,000 miles on it. Going to do the job myself this time. What are the best calipers, rotors and brake pads to get for both front and rear? Has anyone had the original calipers sent out to be brass lined? I just restored a 1967 Jaguar XKE roadster and had the calipers done at Whitepost. Worked like a charm!

i got the EBC greenstuff pads and their slotted only rotors(i forget the name of them). could not be happier.
 
The sport calipers are the best and largest ones you can get as far as I know, sounds like you need better pads, and need to bed them in properly
 
Depends how much you wanna spend. A rotora or stoptech (TRD) BBK would be the best BUT you'll need at least 17in rims to clear them and have a check for $2000 ready. If you don't wanna go down that route than I would suggest powerslot rotors with stoptech pads.
 
The steering wheel is shaking a lot when I apply the brakes. I plan on doing all 4 wheels at once. This is a daily driver and only go off road at the Outer Banks every couple of years so I want replacement parts that are going to last at least another 50,000 miles. Had a local garage do the front 6 months ago and now it is terrible. Could be a sticking caliper piston, maybe.
 
There is a likelihood. They machined your rotors close or under the minimal thickness. Meaning the rotors are thinner than they should be. Due to the lack of additional rotor thickness to dissipate heat. As soon as they got good and hot the rotors warped. Id be tempted to take it back to them. Have them throw a micrometer on the rotor. If they are under spec, they owe you a new brake job with new rotors.
 
Prediction - upper inside piston on one or both of the calipers has seized and you are tearing up your rotors - it's a known issue on the 4th Gens - what's infuriating is it always seems to be the same piston indicating a design flaw that Toyota seemed happy to live with for the all 6 years of the 4th generation. I just did one of the fronts on mine for the second time and I have a nagging feeling the other has gone as well now.
 
i would check all the pins and clips and anti rattle clip too, i had a retaining clip broke off from a pin, that holds the pads in, almost came out, but it cause alot of weird braking pulses , loose pad can cause this, so i bought a new retaining clip and also the anti rattle clip, fixed the problem, u should also check how the pads are wearing too.
 
good info here, I wonder what the best combo would be for towing heavier loads? My rotors have pad material build up from a one time towing of a 5k lb ski boat. I'm pretty sure they are stock rotors/pads. Time to upgrade both, just not sure where to start. I don't want to compromise my ATRAC affectiveness, but want pads that will hold up to higher heat than OEM. Any thoughts?
 
I just upgraded my brakes to larger calipers (OEM reman) and rotors. I went with PowerStop drilled and slotted rotors and could not be happier. You will not find a better deal when it comes to PowerStop rotors/pads combo. Best price and quality is superb.
 
I have new hardware all the way around on mine, including calipers. When I was under there the other day I noticed that the M-shaped spring that puts counter pressure on the pads to move them away from the rotors was pushing them away unevenly. The side of the pad farthest away from the spring was in greater contact with the rotor than the side closest to the spring. I'm really OCD about things being 'even' and it bothered me that an off-center spring was the only thing keeping my pads off of the rotors so I bought an extra parts kit and put springs on both guide pins to keep the pressure even.

I do believe that I can tell a difference in the braking sensation and there is less pad-on-rotor noise when I lift the wheel and spin it by hand. I'm sure people will chime in and tell me that it makes no difference and any improvement is just in my head, but for a sum total investment of $3 you really can't go wrong.
 
check amazon, raybestos r300 rotors have been great for 2 years now and resist corrosion excellent. akbono premium pads all the way around.

Wondering where you got your oem reman calipers?

I'm from up north. Got them from toyotapartsdirect.ca where OEM parts considerably cheaper compare to local dealer

These OEM reman calipers the best I've seen between Raybestos, NAPA quality of rebuild wise
