What are your HIGHWAY mpg's?

Well it has been a few months now and I will tell you how my truck is settling into its new suspension and tire set up. At 75 mpg I'm getting 22 mpg and at 65-70 I get 23.5 mpg. Skeptics won't believe me but I'm getting constant results. Thanks everyone who contributed!

From Southern Maryland to Battle Creek MI. 70mph on the cruise. Solid 20mpg.
By the way the roof was open all the way.

New (to me at least) vehicle 600 miles to get her home. Had to slow down at times due to "tank slappers" at freeway speed. Bad rear control arm bushings = "tank slappers".

I drive Denver to Albuquerque and back at least once a month, MPG was around 16-17mpg. Hard starting and car would sometimes just die on the highway, acting like vapor lock. Recently replaced fuel pump and immediately noticed all previous issues fixed and better than 19mph averaged both ways on my next trip.

How do I prevent the embarrassment of going 65 MPH or less on a freeway? Find a semi 18-wheeler going about the speed that I want, and follow it for 200 miles. Everyone just passes you and the semi. Be very polite. Follow 100-200 feet behind. (This reduces the rock chips, too.) Preferably it's an empty semi, so you can maintain speed going up hills.

Regarding the driving slow technique, all I do is stay in the right lane (except for passing people going slower than me), do 60-65 mph, and get 20-23.5 mpg. There is no requirement to do the speed limit.

There is only a minimum speed on interstates (45 mph in GA, if I recall). If other drivers are pissed about me going under the limit in the right lane, then tough shit for them.

If someone rides my ass, I let up on the throttle. If they don't back off, I briefly tap my brakes. If that doesn't work, or they get closer, I stand on the brake pedal. Usually the first two techniques work just fine. Tailgaters are a-holes. So are people that hog the left lanes and don't get out of the way of faster drivers. On the interstate, if you are not going faster than vehicles to your right, then you are in the wrong lane. If people would just use the speed gradient as intended on multi-lane roads, traffic flow would be much improved. /rant over

I know it has been said before but staying under 70 will net you the best mileage. I can run at 68 or 70 and get 22.5 mpg consistently on mostly flat roads, but as soon as I go 75+ or hit a lot of hills my mileage begins to suffer dramatically.

was impressed with my last trip. got almost 19, all freeway (except for 1 hour of Idle while my 3 year old slept) under kept it about 70 the entire time

2001 Supercharged

BEFORE people start yelling at me for "not researching" hear me out. I have actually read 20+ threads that have anything to do with gas mileage and what I have found is that most of them are giving mixed city and highway MPG's. We all know that pure city driving is going to give dismal fuel economy even for bone stock 3rd gen. So what I want to start a thread for HIGHWAY only fuel economy.
