What AT tires?

I was planning on getting the KO3’s for my Gen 4 in the next few weeks, but I just found out today that the KO3 is 10lbs heavier than the KO2 and only comes as a light truck tire. Not sure about them now. Just curious what are running

Falken Rubitreks are on my 4th Gen. The Falken Wildpeaks are nice as well. I work on the back (shop) parts counter at a Toyota dealer, so I've seen many different tire brands over the last 24 years. BFG K02/K03 tires are very overrated, in my opinion. There are many other options out there.

Very satisfied with stock size Pirelli Scorpion AT+.
It is XL rated, mild sidewall tread. At 42 lbs it is about 5% heavier than Bridgestone stock. Thicker bead/sidewall than SL tires-more like LT in D grade. Leans more toward highway friendly. Also 3peak rated for snow. I air mine at 32 cold which gives 34-36 on highway when hot.

Very happy with the Michelin Defender LTX A/T2 tires I put on my 4R 20,000 miles ago.

I have LTX A/T2’s on my 2002 SR5, Falken Wildpeak A/T3W’s on my 2019 SR5, and BFG KO2’s on my 1992 F150. I probably like the Michelins best of all, but since I moved to the Sierra Nevada foothills, I need snow tires at certain times of the year. The BFG’s are ok, but seem a little noisy and heavy compared to the others. (Of course that could be the 33 YO F150, not the tires!)

Next time, I’ll probably get the Falken’s again (3PMS certified) unless I see something else that looks better.

I was looking at the wildpeaks, but on discount tires site they are rated worse than the KOs on fuel efficiency. Have you found your gas mileage significantly worse with them?

Toyo AT3 would be my vote. I'm not a huge fan of BFG's although they do look badass. No question about that.

Toyos are the 'roundest' tires I've ever had, and this has proven true across 4-5 sets now.

I have the Rubitrek, not the Wildpeak. That said, compared to the 1st Gen I had for 19 years, my 4th gen is a gas guzzler to begin with. Also, when I bought the '03, the existing tires were worn out already, so I put the Falkens on right away.
Honestly, I never paid attention to fuel efficiency when selecting tires; I look for what will suit my needs and last the longest for the budget I have.

I have been super happy with my Duratrac RT's in XL (only 2lb heavier), fantastic all around, snow, rain, dirt, mud. But if you want to keep weight down and have a good aggressive tire the BaJa Boss would be good, but i still prefer the RT's in XL for only 2 lbs more.

My 255/80 AT3Ws are great even in the snow. Skinnier tires have increased pressure along the contact patch so they bite better!

Duratracs are amazing tires but they're LOUD especially as they age. That would be the only thing that kept me from them (and maybe it wouldn't, but their one downside is a big one)

couldn't recommend Michelin Defender's any more - 20k miles in and the best tire I've ever had.

Think about how you plan to use the tires. Florida? Montana? Seattle rain? They are definitely built different. My Firestone AT's are rated better than others on wet pavement. Offroad I'm sure the BFG's would excel over my tires.
