what brakes to choose on 2005 4Runner limited v6 4wd?

I've heard that the 4Runner comes with organic pads on the rear, is that the same for the front? If you had to go with another pad that would last, be quiet, not create a lot of brake dust and not wear the rotor as much what would you choose?

Has anyone ever put slotted rotors on just the front and not the rear? I'm mainly trying to avoid the front from warping again as I never have this problem with the rear. It's not bad unless you're going 80 and have to apply the brakes as they heat up fast. The stock pads have lasted up to 76,000 thus far on the front and I may go back with them, but with slotted rotors from Power Slot.

Would like some opinions on this when you have time.

My 05 SR5 V6 was good on original brakes up until 62K. When I did the job my front rotors and calipers were still good, just needed the new pins for the caliper since they were rusted. I couldn't pop them out like the chiltons book suggests instead I had to cut them with the recipricating saw. The factory calipers have issues and the aftermarket will be my solution. I suggest the factory pads since they have lasted quite some time and I would look for some aftermarket heavy duty calipers and rotors. :thumb3:

have u try ebc brake pads? i use the green stuff 6000 series front and back on my sport edition, some people on this forum is using these pads.

I wasn't able to find anyone who could tell me if the OEM pads were organic, semi-metallic, or ceramic. Even the Toyota parts guys weren't sure. How do you know they are organic?

But anyway, I switched to Raybestos Quiet Stop pads when I replaced my brakes. They are ceramic pads and I've used them on other cars in the past. So far they perform exactly as the stock pads....strong stopping power, no noise and very little brake dust.

(BTW, I should start a stopwatch to see how long it will take "mom" to chime in here to tell you that your rotors aren't actually warped.)

The only way you'll be able to find aftermarket calipers is if you buy a "big" brake kit (or a race brake kit if you can find it) from one of the high performance brake manufacturers. If you just want an aftermarket bolt-on replacement for your Toyota calipers, you're out of luck because nobody makes them. I searched all over the place myself....
