What coils to use with Bilstein 5100s?

I ordered a set of Bilstein 5100s but I searched the forum and couldn't get a straight answer. What kind of coils should get to pair with the Bilstein to achieve a 2.5" lift in the front and 1.5" lift in the rear.

I was thinking about using the OME 884 springs in the front and a 1.5" daystar spacer in the back. However, some website said the 884 will give you a 2.5-3" lift and other said the 884 will give you a 2" lift. Also, are there any springs that gives you no more than 1.5" lift in the rear. Seems like a lot of people got more than advertised.

The goal is to lift and fit 285s and hopefully not have to replace the UCA or do a BMC. I use the car as a daily 90% of the time btw.

How long have you had your 5100/Dobinson combo and you like it?

4 months and I like it. No complaints on the ride quality.

Sounds like the eibach kit might fit your needs.

This was not the case for me. I am at 2.5/1.5 with the Bilstein 5100 setup and had no issues getting proper alignment.

I installed Bilstein 5100's all the way around with stock coils. I set the front shock to 2.5", and in the rear, I went with the 1.5" daystar spacer. I did a full write up on it if you are interested. Bilstein 5100 2.5" Front and Daystar 1.5" Rear Spacer Write-up

I personally felt like this lift improved my ride quality significantly and only cost me around $450 out the door. The suspension is a little more stiff when breaking and turning, but I felt this helped the body roll and nose dive significantly. I definitely wouldn't say it rides rough now, just a little more stiff when it needs it.

I also did not add new UCA's with this setup, and I had no issue getting proper alignment. I am running the TRD Pro wheels and stock tires, but I am looking to upgrade to 285's soon. My personal recommendation would be to run it with your stock coils. In the future, I might upgrade my suspension again by setting the front Bilstein back to base height and adding lift springs all the way around. I would probably go with Toytec's 3/2 lift kit if I did that, but I would probably have to get new UCA's then.

Stay away from OME springs. You will absolutely find that they'll bag out within months.

Since this is a mild lift, you can run the stock coils with a spacer in the back then adjust the preload on the 5100's to achieve your ride height goals. This set up won't perform amazing offroad, but you would have selected something other than an entry level coilover if that was your goal, right?

As for the question of uca's, you will need to upgrade if you're having problems getting your alignment back in spec, or require the extra caster to clear 285 or larger tires. If you plan to stay at 2", or with the 265's you should not need uca's

Eibach and bilstein both have springs rated for 1.5”. If you get the 4th gen Eibach front springs they’ll give you 2.25 to 2.5 lift.

Im Looking to use 5100's but as an light off-road vehicle. A lot of desert moving and forest roads. And have been struggling to pin down exactly what Spring I should run regarding this? Generally hauling a full trunk of gear and 4 passengers. My 4runner is entirely stock at the moment so no added weight in terms of bumpers or winches.

Any help here would be awesome.

I’m using Dobinsons for the front. Stock spring with corn feed spacer in the rear. No complaints. They have plenty of lift options to choose from and are affordable. They also have a good reputation for quality.
