Swapped f/r differential, transfer case fluids for synthetics.
Then tried my hand at the transmission pan drop. This was kind of a nightmare, because that sealant is pain to work with, and get seated properly, and some of the bolts didn't want to go in nicely. So I ended up BREAKING A BOLT OFF IN MY TRANSMISSION.
Got it put back together, leaked badly where that bolt broke.
So had to drop the pan again, and was lucky to get a small hole drilled in it, and use a bolt extractor (by hand!) and it came out. Then got some new bolts, and put it all back together.
Only silver lining, was that I switched to royal purple synthetic, and by doing it twice, I change a bigger portion of the total transmission fluid.

Damn! Busted LBJ?
To follow this thread, I ordered the upgraded steering rack guide and parts. Can anyone chime in as to how much they paid if they went through with this? I just paid the dealership here $108 for total parts and shipping to my front door... Is that a little much?

Surprisingly not. The bolts attaching the LBJ/LCA to the spindle snapped.... No body damage
Only damage is the 6" gash in my tire hahaha.

Changed the oil on my 2000 using Synthetic High Mileage 5w-30...slowly racking up the miles at 154k

Wow!!! That Sucks! Sorry to hear... Those bolts are shady... I've been trying to find grade 8 bolts to replace them, but am having trouble doing so. Mine snapped while changing my LBJ out last spring and I had to drill it out and tap new threads. Not fun...

Just curious-
OE ball joints? Replaced ball joints/used old bolts? Replaced ball joints/used new bolts? Torqued to? Mileage on bolts?

No clue in honesty. Ball joints have no play. It wasn't a ball joint failure and they are still fine. I had bolts missing and what I suspect happened was the bolts that were on loosened then snapped due to the tension pulling it two different ways. I'd imagine the bolts are original and 145k miles

Weird loose bolts and thanks for some satisfaction of curiosity.
Hopefully the other side is fine? Call me paranoid, but I've gotten into the habit of replacing them on rare occasion, with oe bolts. 4 Lower ball joint bolts 59 ft lb and loctite.

It's a good habit to be in. I'm replacing all 4 on both sides as the other side was missing 1 bolt. Just in case
