What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Installed some Phillips crystalvision bulbs today, nice color but they don't seem much brighter. The old bulbs were fine and had been in there for as long as I owned it (10 years). I've never actually had to change a single bulb in 10 years except for climate controls.

Now I need some side bulbs that match the color temp.

Over the last two days I finished installing my scangauge II by drilling a hole in the back of the stereo pocket to run the cable through. Now I think I have a really clean install and make use of that pocket that isn't really a good storage spot.

I also replaced my fog lights with some Hella long life bulbs after my yellow Optilux ones burned out after just 3 months. And I finally finished my"Raptor Grille". I got the letters in earlier this week after they were on back order since October when I ordered them. I made a thread on it since I've never seen one done on a 3rd gen. More pics in the link.

Got my front windows tinted and new wheels (ION ALLOY) installed today

Spent all day yesterday prepping and painting my 5 spokes flat black. Detailed the hubcaps today with the touch up paint I had left over from my new paintjob. I really like how they turned out.

Cleaned up the corner lights. They had a plastic protector thingy that was glued on to them from the original owner that slowly had built up gunk as they pealed away from the housing. I've hated them ever since I got it more than ten years ago. Finally pulled them off, but they left a yucky gooey muck underneath, of which some had dripped onto the filler piece below the headlight assembly. Took some goof-off to try and clear them off, but ended up using acetone and elbow grease to get them cleaned up. Had been considering getting clear corner light to replace them, but I think they turned out nice.

Painted my OEM rims today.
Went with Gun Metal Gray and added a touch of gold (to match truck) with an air brush.

You must have had some good bulbs in it before then.. I just did this same update to mine but I was coming from some old standard stock type bulbs and my CrystalVisions made a HUGE difference.

Installed new CATS. May not of needed them. They didn't appear clogged, Brand new Densos were installed to kill off P0420.

P0420 came back 1 month later. Cleared code and came back almost a month later again.

Took old cats off and the gasket between the top of BANK 1 Cat and the exhaust manifold was NON existent.

But installed new gaskets and cats along with keeping the old ones just in case it comes back. (Walker cats btw for anyone who cares)

You must have had some good bulbs in it before then.. I just did this same update to mine but I was coming from some old standard stock type bulbs and my CrystalVisions made a HUGE difference.

One of my headlight covers is cracked and both have the reflector peeling off at the bottom so maybe thats the problem. I'm going to get some new Depo brand replacements for $40 each.

I went out and looked what kind the old ones were. Koito Japan I wonder if they are the originals? They still had electric grease on the connectors.

Replaced the radiator, thermostat, radiator hoses and transmission oil hoses and transmission fluid. Everything was original and looked perfect. Seemed kinda like a waste of time and I ended up stripping the transmission drain plug although it's fairly snug and doesn't leak. As far as I know the transmission fluid has only been changed once in 16 years/190k miles, and the coolant twice during timing belt changes. My truck almost runs better when I completely ignore it beyond oil changes and timing belts.

Few thoughts for you...take them as you will

I know one of your lenses is cracked so this probably isn't going to work for you but you might consider the following. This is pretty common (peeling) and is easy to fix...just bake the lenses, scrape the peeling stuff off and put the lenses back on. Or why you have the lenses off throw in some projectors and a HID retro and you will never be happier.

Today I installed a new PCV valve and grommet, cleaned mass air flow sensor, cleaned throttle body, ISR mod, cut the rubber bottom off of the rear mud flaps, sea foam through the line off the break booster, sea foam in crankcase, sea foam in fuel tank, and I did the interior led's a couple days ago.

Installed new StrongArm liftgate struts. It actually opens itself now! No more pushing it up the last 25% of the way!
