Removed the running boards finally.Changed the front and rear diff fluids. Next up, transmission and transfer case fluid.

Funny you posted this. Had a ridiculously busy day today. Picked Tyrone up from getting state inspection and emissions this afternoon. Drove home, windows DOWN, sun roof open, back window down. Rowing through the gears with the M/T's roaring, Linkin Park on the radio, loving the wind blowing all over the place. Love this truck. It's the roughest one I've bought but I love it.

I think we (the 3rd gen owners) get more joy out of these 10-15 year old vehicles than the guy next to you in his brand new SUV! There's just something about them!

With all that traffic, I don't see how anyone can go 85mph (TX is looking to up its speed limit max at the moment).

New fuel filter at 102k miles done at the dealer. Maybe scrape off the wall of bugs on my entire front area from highway driving haha.

Gonna disassemble and clean the **** out of my throttle bodies. Also just ordered;

water pump
timing belt
all 3 drive belts (a/c, power steering, alternator)
front and rear O2 sensors
fuel filter

My baby is gonna run be running like new at 240K

Just filled up for 2nd time since I bought it, the first trackable tank. 20.6mpg, mostly city driving. Not bad!

Will be changing engine oil with Mobil1 this afternoon, and all gear boxes with redline oils. Also ordering timing belt/water pump kit.
Still waiting on coilover rebuild before I can install the lift.

Agreed. I find myself "just going for a ride" from time to time. They are enjoyable. I'd like to think your 1st Gen is fun to take out for no reason at all.

It really is! I'm amazed at the looks it gets when I drive it.......male/female, all ages. Funny thing is alot of people aren't sure what it is, especially with the top off.

Granted there's 15 years between my 85 and my 00, but it's amazing how completely different they are, yet I love both of them!

I was hoping to take the top off Tyrone tonight, but looks like rain the next two days. Oh well, sometime soon.

Fun day today. Got to play with my 4Runner.

I was able to buy a decent set of headlights (from 48HMSFAN - thanks again) - and got the time to install them today. My old lights were in pretty rough shape. My '97 has certainly seen better days - but I love this old girl. Runs great, and has a rugged look. But the front end has seen it's share of abuse from previous owners.

The old headlight units had busted grill tabs, and broken mounting tabs. The passenger side glass portion was partially broken away from the frame unit - so I had to fuse it solid (with epoxy) so it wouldn't flop around. The lights were pretty bad on dark nights.

Once I had the new (to me) headlights mounted, I played around with the body filler pieces (that go under the lights). They were very poorly attached before - and would flop around a bit. I got them decently straight with the bumper and lights - and secured very nicely now.

I'm eventually going to paint the front and rear bumpers black (when I can actually find a better rear bumper - mine is very rough). So I decided to take care of the grill right away - and paint it black. I had to do a fair bit of epoxy repairs to the grill. But overall, I got it into decent shape. A few good coats of black, and it was looking nice. I need to wait till tomorrow to reattach it.

Took the yota to Huckfest at Pismo. I am amazed how well it did out there, I was going through spots in 2wd where other 4x4s were getting stuck. I love having a 4runner again!

Well damn!! All done installing the new (to me) lights, and the freshly painted grill. But now it just makes my ugly hood look even worse!!!

Oh well. I suppose it's a step in the right direction. Every chance I can get to improve this little rough fella - the better!!

Yanked the column apart on the wife's '96 to tack weld the collapsible joint. Took about an hour. Ready for a road test to see if that solved the clunk

Installed a new slave cylinder and changed the oil in Tyrone.

1) Got some all-pro 1.5" Spacers.
2) Got some new Pro-Comp ES9000 LC sized shocks to match my new LX450 Coils
3) Got some Ride Height Adjustable front Bilstein's from ToyTec
4) Extended Rear brake-line from ToyTec
5) Got some Seafoam to run with an oil change and new spark plugs.
6) Oh and I got a new stock airbox!

The CEL came on again... had autozone check it. I have been getting P0442 and P0440, now I only get the P0440 :wtf: I going to get a few hose clamps at some point and see if it comes back again.....
