What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I finally got around to replacing my fan bracket with an OEM Aisin from Rock Auto. The bearing was making more noise than I felt comfortable with. I wanted to replace it at the same time I did my timing belt about 5,000 mi ago but I didn't have one on hand before leaving on my vacation.

Next up is replacing my A/C idler pulley bearing. Too bad Toyota quit making them serviceable. The early Tacomas ones were serviceable but later switched to a 4Runner enclosed style. For kicks and giggles I plan to chuck up the pulley in a lathe and remove the four indents holding the plate on so I can replace the bearing. I shall report back.

Two weeks ago did the valve cover gaskets (a true pain in the poop shoot), LBJs, and cleaned the K&N. Today did an oil change and replaced all three belts. Tomorrow I am going to clean the engine compartment having wheeled in the mud last week during our first rain in months. It was my first time in the mud with this truck. Had a blast!!! So did the kids which was even more inspiring. Now they want to go to "cooler places dad!"

Found some...stuff. brewing in my rear heater hoses (supply and return). Here it is.

I'm not sure what it is, but I'm certain it's in my heater core behind my dash too. I swapped the lines to the heater core behind the dash to backflush it and the heat was almost excruciatingly hot...then after 30 20 miles the heat cooled down a little. There is something in my heater core I need to get out...or dissolve. Any ideas? It looks a bit little stones ground up and feels like it too.

Finished my sliders, all wielded on now and trimmed my front mud flaps to fit around the sliders. Thats right i cut up a good set of the impossible to find flare front mud flaps, lol.

Put a magnet to it! Maybe your steel hardlines are corroding from the inside.

Installed a new O2 sensor. We'll see if that solves my P0420 woes. I'll go through the drive cycles tomorrow morning to see if I get the all clear for emissions testing.

Yeah. Thanks to big city politics those of us in the smaller cities in surrounding counties have to abide by the same standards.
