I hate to admit I was living with my parents when I turned 30. I went back to school to change careers (tourism/transportation to IT) and I was poor and they had room. I moved back out again just as soon as I could afford it!

I also couldn't wait to get my license when I was 16. I love driving so much I did it professionally for 6 years.

Hey man I don't think there is anything wrong with someone leaning on a relative for a few weeks / months until they can get back onto their feet.

As long as they just don't let 3-4 weeks turn into 6 months or forever.

Got the timing belt, bearings, water pump, accessory belts and radiator hoses done! (121,150 miles and ready for more + an extra set of belts). Also caught my first winter steelhead!

Had a P0340 code afterwards because the camshaft sensor wasn't connected for the test fire. Fortunately the CEL went off after about 5 minutes and she has been running great since.

I don't have any problem with productive people living with family. The issue I'm talking about is supposed Adults living with their Parents, who are of sound mind and body, and still choose to act as if they're 8 years old, and mommy and daddy need to take care of their poor little snookums.

It's really none of my business anyway, except for the fact that my tax dollars will almost inevitably be supporting these bums someday.

As for my 4Runner, I thoroughly washed off any traces of road salt. It still looks nearly as good as the day I bought it, 17+ years ago.

I cut the black wire with a yellow stripe to turn my daytime running lights off on my 2002. Easy mod and worked great.

Hey all - I didn't mean to take this thread off topic for around 3 pages by talking about lazy kids. Kids are of all types - more unmotivated to drive now than I remember growing up, but still some honest, hard working, solid young adults.

Maybe I can help get us back on track here: my youngest daughter I was talking about was caught in a flash flood with a family member when she was under 10 years old. Now she is afraid, especially since getting caught in a recent major downpour and dust storm. In her case it is fear, with the convenience of all her friends driving (and mom filling the gap as taxi driver).

She will be over it when summer starts, since she will have to get a job and find a way to pay for herself as a 17 year old, and her wants, needs, habits, etc.

Back on topic:
So today I got my high power COB SMD LED light strips (from Amazon) and test fit them in the back, so I can have more light in the cargo area. Ironically they are packaged as Daytime Running Lights, which I disconnected my stock DRLs on the 2000 runner today. Also ordered a pair of Philips 9003 CrystalVision Ultra Replacement Bulbs since I noticed my drivers low beam out yesterday...

I wasted no time taking those damn things off.

Now I need to address the rear sag with a 2 inch lift and some new tires.

I am looking at you rear wheel well and realizing my 4runner has sagged in all 4 corners. Oh well, I guess that means a 2" lift will be a 4" lift (i kid).

I have assumed that a 2 inch lift (im thinking OME 906 coils) will be "2 inches" above stock height, which I am probably 2 inches below stock in the rear. So I also expect about 4 inches over where she sits currently. The front will get a lift by way of new struts and coils too.

As far as I know, I have all original suspension at 362k...so it's way over due.

Hopefully in the next month or two. I'm still recovering from Christmas (3 kids ) and I do plan to take copious notes and pictures before and after.

As for the current ride, if you ever driven or rode along in a semi truck on an old country road while the truck is empty....that's what it feels like all the time. Add in worn out rack bushings plus ITR/OTR that are shot — and its a real adventure going anywhere.

I'm planning to take care of the rack and tie rods this week when I find time. Not sure how long it will take since I've never done them before.

Even so — I still love that damn truck...

I had to use my yellow top to help the nearly 9 year old red top start the truck this very cold morning. Plans and budget say new red top this spring. 'Til then I'm still make it to work on time.
