I think it'll depend on the color of your 4runner. I really like the way mine has turned out as I've painted all my chrome and wheels in satin black. I've been wanting some limited flares to paint black. I say go for it, I'm sure you could tool around with photoshop and see what it would look like before hand.

Mine is Natural White with the Grey Limited Flares. I like the color combo but there are some pretty decent scratches on the front passenger flares. Figured White/Black would be a good combo. That is true once I get it washed and start on the painting I will see how I feel.

Replaced my amber, cracked turn signals for clear ones. Finally tracked down some clear corners and I'll install them next week when I rebuild my front bumper. So glad to finally remove the last bit of chrome and I don't trust plastidip(gasp)

Yes I see the irony in that statement haha, but my headlights are still OEM and I can't justify the price of black ones on the market. For now the intent is to minimize all the combating colors on my ride, i.e. Amber, chrome, red, and black. Later I will work on my lights and darken the housings on them, but clear looks better than amber to me at the moment.

Got the clear corners and signals on

Removed and cleaned throttle body, TRD throttle body gasket, cleaned intake and MAF, new vacuum hoses, new PCV, grommet and hose, upgrade battery to group 24f Costco brand.

Noticed rust under my battery tray from abrasion, so ground to bare metal, hit it with rust converter and then bedlined the area.

Tomorrow will be changing diffs and tcase with AMSOil and vinyl overwrap on fogs to prevent them from rock damage.

Changed my green dash & console lighting to led orange to match my jegs oil pressure and temperature gauges. Took longer than it should have as my manual auto start caused an issue because the fuse that saves the controller had a loose leg and that made me chase down a non existent grounding percieved issue! However, I like the change over the green which was the original colour when I bought this 1997 T4R brand new. I know, it did not happen without pics!

Did a drain and fill on my transmission at 310,952 and its was brown but not as bad as I thought it was going to be...just need to buy two more quarts of fluid :doh:

Changed out the old TPS with a new OEM one I bought off Craigslist for $10. The shifts are a little faster now.

Drained the coolant and flushed it for the 4th time. Blew two more lines full of stop leak out. Rear heater core is sealed shut from the crap so I'll replace that this week. This has been a nightmare.

Another did-it-myself oil change, and this time I was nearly drip free, except for one rogue bead off the old filter. I was also treated to an impromptu height comparison at the grocery store. I've read about '99s having tall factory coils, not bad! That's me on the right, and a 96-98 I think two spots down. I need to remove my running boards next for the full effect.:nerd:

Honestly Brian I only changed it since I found it for so cheap. It was listed for the Tundra when it had the 5VZ in it. I think that if the seller would have stated that it worked in a Tacoma and 4runner, it would have been sold long ago.

Using my scanner I could see with the old TPS a lag in time almost for it to shift. And ohming it out via the values found in the FSM it was barely passing in all three test readings.

I probably would have passed on buying one of it was more than $25. For me it is more of a preventative maintenance item.
